That would be Commerce standout Sammy Brown and Kam Davis from Dougherty High School in Albany.
Brown, a powerful 6-foot-2 205-pounder, is coming off a sensational freshman season where he was named Region 8-A Offensive POY after rushing for 1,368 yards and scoring 19 total touchdowns. One of the more productive backs in the entire state last year, Brown made sure to tell Prep Redzone all about his offer from the Bulldogs.
“I was very surprised,” Brown told Prep Redzone. “I didn’t expect something this big to come on a Monday morning like today. It’s very humbling and really a blessing for such a great school like Georgia to give me a scholarship. They’ve always had a really good program, and have always been up there in terms of a National Championship.”
Commerce coach Mike Brown had some big words for his talented young back.
“With Sammy, his strength and physicality are his biggest traits. He has good burst and vision as well. He has a 300+ power clean and bench as a freshman and a 465 squat so he is way ahead in that department.”
Brown is a bowling-ball of a running back and a tackle-breaking machine. He has great lower body strength, balance, and impressive burst in the open field. He’s a physical back with speed, and more offers are likely to come his way shortly.
Like Brown, 2024 back Kam Davis also has a great blend of size and speed. He’s also a multi-sport star and is already committed to Florida State to play both football and baseball.
Harrison Smith Jr, Davis’ 7-on-7 coach, thinks the South Georgia star is a special athlete with sky-high potential.
“Kam has a natural running ability he can get skinny in between the tackles and run through second level tacklers”, Smith told Prep Redzone. “He has the speed to break the long runs. He hands like a wide WR so catching the ball out of the backfield putting him in space creates automatic mismatch. He is a power runner with small back athleticism.”
The state of Georgia consistently produces high-level backs, and these two are on their way to becoming two of the best in the entire country in the 2024 class.
What stands out the most about both of them are their athleticism. Both play multiple sports so there is never any down time throughout the year. Davis has the potential to play at a professional level in both football and baseball, while Brown is a three-sport standout himself. Both take the weight room seriously as well and are going to show up in college physically ready to play.
The state of Georgia appears to be loaded again in the 2024 class, and Brown and Davis are expected to be two of the best when the first rankings come out.
