The state has produced multiple 5-star offensive tackles in recent years, so they do come through often. More and more offensive tackles are seeing their stock rise now that we’re fully into camp season, and Prep Redzone breaks down a few who are bound for big junior seasons in 2021.
Madden Sanker Madden Sanker 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL South Paulding | 2023 State GA – South Paulding
One of the top-performing offensive lineman from the Atlanta Under Armour camp, Sanker is a tough, nasty lineman and one of the top wrestlers in the state. He has great size at 6-foot-5 285-pounds and loves to play with a mean streak. He’s strong, powerful, and fundamentally sounds. Once he gets his hands on the defender, it’s over. Sanker also does a great job of driving his opponent backwards and doesn’t stop until the whistle is blown. He’s big and physical enough to play on the interior as well, and he’ll certainly get a look there at the next level. He has a handful of offers this second, but his film from last fall and impressive spring so far should lead to some bigger offers sooner than later. Sanker is one of the top overall offensive line prospects in the state already and has a chance to prove he’s one of the best in the country with a big junior season.
Will Fitzpatrick – Walton
The Walton Raiders are as consistent as it gets as it relates to pumping out top prospects each year. They’re a team full of talent once again and are expected to have one of the top offensive lines in 7A. One reason for that is because of sophomore tackle, Will Fitzpatrick. The long offensive tackle has a promising frame at 6-foot-5 265-pounds with plenty of room to grow and continue adding muscle. He looks like a giant tight end right now, but he blocks with a mean streak from his tackle spot. He’s excellent in the run game and shows nice lower body strength as he drives his opponent backwards. His length helps him out in the passing game and he’s improving there more and more. He does a good job of blocking in space in the screen game and knows how to bury his opponent into the ground. He’s an impressive looking prospect and has his best football ahead of him. If he continues to develop and add muscle over the next two years, Fitzpatrick should most certainly see some offers come his way.
Shamurad Umarov – Denmark
The Forsyth County tackle at Denmark is a prospect FULL of potential. Umarov is another tackle who is physically gifted with length and a 6-foot-6 275-pound frame. The Denmark staff has high expectations for him as a junior and feel that he could see his recruitment take off once he adds more weight and muscle. He’s lean and long right now, and he’s working hard on not only gaining weight, but working on the fundamentals and his technique. He was the starting left tackle for the Danes last year as a sophomore and should thrive even more there as a junior. He has the size and raw tools necessary to play somewhere at the next level, but he’ll have to earn it this offseason and in the fall as a junior. Look for Umarov to push for All-Region status in 2021.
