Whether their playing both wide receiver and defensive back, or running back and linebacker, or even playing both sides of the trenches, more and more players across the state are staying on the field.
Here are a few 2022 under the radar athletes who are expected to make big plays on both sides of the ball this fall.
Dreylan Martin – Commerce
The Athens area standout is a different like of athlete, one who plays both fullback and cornerback for his Commerce team. The staff there expects a big year from Martin production wise, as he has an incredible work ethic and has gotten bigger, stronger, and a step faster already this off-season. As a senior, Dreylan and his fellow seniors are expected to provide leadership for the underclassmen both on and off the field. The 5-foot-10 175-pounder will start on both sides of the ball this fall again at fullback and cornerback. He biggest strengths are his passion for the game, along with his quick first step and burst as a RB. He also plays with physicality and plays bigger than his size. He’s a big-play waiting to happen and should have a monster senior season.

Tyler Griffin – Southeast Bulloch
In Southeast Georgia, there’s always under the radar talent in that rural part of the state. A rising prospect from the area in 2021 is Southeast Bulloch playmaker, Tyler Griffin. Offensively, Griffin rushed for 504 yards (10.7 ypc) and 3 TDs. He also made plays as a receiver with 605 yards and 8 TDs. Defensively, the 6-foot-4 200-pounder made 51 tackles, 4 TFLs, 4 PBU, and 1 interception that was returned for TD. His high school staff believes his biggest strength is his field vision and home run ability. He can score from wherever on the field and has the size needed to make plays over smaller defenders. He’s such a gifted player who consistently makes big plays no matter where he’s lined up. Griffin holds offers from Virginia Tech, Virginia, Colorado, and Georgia Tech.
Jordan Perry – Jefferson
Still one of the most underrated prospects in the state, Perry is a tremendous athlete that helped lead the Dragons all the way to the state championship game last fall. He’s got great size at 6-foot-2 180-pounds and is a great compliment to 5-star ATH Malaki Starks Malaki Starks 6'1" | 195 lbs | ATH Jefferson | 2022 State GA on offense. Perry was a dynamic playmaker as a runner as he rushed for 434 yards and 5 touchdowns. When opposing defenses keyed on Starks, Perry was always there to make a big play to keep the defense honest. Perry also showcased his big-play ability as a receiver as Perry took half of his 8 receptions on the season for touchdowns. He hauled in a total of 208 receiving yards on just those 8 grabs. On defense, Perry was stout against the run all season, making 37 total tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 4 INTs, and one sack. He is one of the top playmakers in the region and will be back with Starks again this fall as they try to lead Jefferson all the way to the state title game.
