Trey Bradford, San Marcos, 2021
Bradford had a 49-yard interception that he returned for a touchdown in a 9-7 win over La Costa Canyon. He also had six tackles, two of which were for a loss and was arguably the best skill player on the field. Bradford has good closeout speed and instincts. He is headed to Fordham to play his college football.

Lando Brown, Serra, 2021
Brown led Serra in tackles and sacks last season and picked up right where he left off in the team’s season opener against Long Beach Poly. He had 14 tackles, two for a loss and a sack in the loss. He is a guy that coach Scott Altenberg has called unblockable and he played well against one of the best teams in the state.

Cole Bullock, Sierra Canyon, 2021
Of all the great players in the Sierra Canyon, St John Bosco game, Bullock stood out on defense for the Trailblazers. He lined up all over the field and was frequently in the backfield when he would blitz. He was quick enough to keep pace with the Bosco running backs and strong enough to overpower some of the interior linemen. He has Division 1 strength but only has lower level offers at the moment.

Evan Jernegan, St. Francis, 2021
Jernegan was incredible for St. Francis in the team’s win over Mira Costa on both sides of the ball. Offensively he caught five passes for 100 yards and the game-winning touchdown. On defense he had seven tackles, five for a loss and three sacks. He also had an interception and a blocked punt. He is committed to Valparaiso.

[player_tooltip player_id="25246" first="Sterling" last="Lane"], Oaks Christian, 2022
Lane was causing havoc in the backfield during Oaks Christian’s win over Paraclete last Saturday. Five of his six tackles were for a loss, he had four sacks and three hurries as well. He is 6-foot-4, 235 pounds and transferred to Oaks Christian from Maranatha. He has many offers including: Arizona State, Colorado, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee and Utah. Lane was offered by San Diego State shortly after the game on Saturday.

Ayo Shotomide, St. Augustine, 2022
One of the biggest wins of the week was St. Augustine’s against Helix. Shotomide was a major part of that victory with a major interception and had a 50-yard touchdown catch on offense. He is a lengthy defensive back at 6-foot-3 and is around 190-pounds with great jumping ability and hands. He is somewhat under the radar and it will be interesting to see how his recruiting picks up after this short season.
