Next on the Preseason Names to Know series we’re taking a look at the RBs from the class of 2022. These athletes have had an extended offseason because of covid and look to show how they’ve developed during that time. They have caught traction by going to camps, training sessions, and posting their progress on Twitter. Here are the eight RBs to know heading into the spring season.
[player_tooltip player_id="20875" first="[player_tooltip player_id="119097" first="Jordan" last=""]" last="Anderson"] 6’3 220 Joliet Catholic Academy Twitter Highlights Starting off wee are taking a look at Mr. Anderson from Joliet Catholic Academy. He’s an N/S runner with quick acceleration to burst through the line of scrimmage and runs through defenders fighting for extra yards. He has the vision to see cutback lanes where he utilizes his jump cuts and reads his blocks well. Anderson is a workhorse for this JCA offense and a playmaker that’s going to cause problems for his opponents. [player_tooltip player_id="65718" first="Ty" last="Schultz"] 5’11 197 Lockport Township HS Twitter Highlights Next up is Mr. Schultz from Lockport Township HS. He’s an N/S runner with quick acclerati9on and is shifty/elusive. Once he turns the corner there’s no catching him and he uses that speed to get past the 2nd level of defenders as well. He uses his juke move to break arm tackles and is used in the passing game. Schultz hasn’t played a full season for Lockport Township yet, look for that to change this spring and for his skillset to be fully unleashed. Aaron Vaughn Jr 5’10 190 Providence Catholic HS Twitter Highlights Mr. Vaughn Jr from Providence Catholic HS is up next. He had a strong season last year having 1700+ all-purpose yards. He’s able to do both an N/S and an E/W running style mixing it up to keep the defense on their toes. He has quick acceleration, runs hard, and uses his jump cuts to break arm tackles. His body control comes to light when he gets tripped up and is able to regain his balance with ease. He’s also used in the passing game where he makes contested catches and doesn’t go down easily. Overall, Vaughn Jr is going to turn heads this spring and look for his recruitment to skyrocket once he gets his junior film. Kendrick Washington 5’11 175 Shepard HS Twitter Highlights Mr. Washington is from Shepard HS. He uses his jump cuts and speed to hit the holes hard getting past the 2nd level of defenders. His elusiveness comes to light in the return man and has the vision to see cutback lanes which he uses to reverse the field for big plays. In the passing game, he can catch out of the backfield and lines up at receiver where he’s a deep threat. His explosiveness comes to light in both the passing and running game as he’s a playmaker in both. Overall, Washington is a stellar player and once he gets his junior year film his recruiting will skyrocket. [player_tooltip player_id="65186" first="Cade" last="Culp"] 5’8 165 Maroa-Forsyth HS Twitter Highlights Mr. Culp is from Maroa-Forsyth HS. He’s a smaller back with quick acceleration and speed to bounce the plays outside to turn the corner. He’s aggressive when running the ball where he breaks arm tackles and plays through contact. He can also catch out of the backfield and is a mix between an outside E/W running attack and the N/S style. Overall, Culp is going to have turn heads this season and be a problem for opposing defenses. [player_tooltip player_id="119341" first="Antonio" last="Torres"] 5’8 175 Naperville Central HS Twitter Highlights Mr. Torres is from Naperville Central HS. He’s an N/S runner who mixes in the E/W style. He reads his blocks, breaks arm tackles, and fights for extra yards. He has the vision to see cutback lanes and uses his quick acceleration to reverse the field. He’s a hard runner and can catch out of the backfield making plays in both the running and passing game. Overall, Torres is going to cause problems in the DVC this spring. Ena Dorcoo 5’7 150 Joliet West HS Twitter Highlights Mr. Dorcoo is from Joliet West HS. He’s an N/S runner with top-notch speed which he utilizes to blow by the 2nd level of defenders. He reads blocks well, breaks arm tackles, and has the vision to see cutback lanes. He uses his elusiveness to makes defenders miss, break arm tackles, and makes plays out of nothing. Overall, once Dorcoo gets his junior film out he’s going to gain traction in his recruiting process. Gabe Lynch 5’10 185 Carmel Catholic HS Twitter Highlights Mr. Lynch is from Carmel Catholic HS. He’s an N/S runner who reads blocks well and breaks arm tackles by keeping his feet turning. He has quick acceleration, can catch out of the backfield, and picks up the blitz in pass pro. Overall, he’s in the same boat as other IL players needing that junior season film for offers to come his way.
These RBs are in similar boats needing their junior year film before their recruiting takes off. Each of these players has the potential to play at the next level, the only thing that’s missing is the updated film from the spring season that’s starting in a week.
