The Central Division of the Ohio Capital Conference is composed of Hilliard Bradley, Olentangy Liberty, Upper Arlington, Hilliard Davidson, Dublin Coffman, and Olentangy Orange. Here are some of the players to keep an eye on this season.
Tayshaun Mayfield Tayshaun Mayfield 6'2" | 225 lbs | ATH Hilliard Bradley | 2022 State OH 6’2” 200 WR Hilliard Bradley
Mayfield is a physically impressive athlete that doubles as a wide receiver and running back but could grow into a tight end at the next level. He is a powerful runner, an excellent blocker, and a sure handed slot receiver with gifted ball skills.
Caden VanVorhis 6’1” 180 DB Hilliard Bradley
Caden can play either safety position who could evolve into an outside linebacker. He has impressive reactions to run or pass and displays a quick break to the football. A physical tackler on the perimeter and openfield, VanVorhis is an active defensive player who is always around the football.
Carter Smith Carter Smith 6'6" | 250 lbs | OL Olentangy Liberty | 2022 State OH 6’6” 250 T/DE Olentangy Liberty
A big and physical lineman that uses his size and wingspan to his advantage, Smith locks on to defensive linemen like glue then controls and moves them with his power. He plays a little high but shows mobility and agility for such a big man.
Chase Brecht 6’1” 190 WR Olentangy Liberty
Brecht is a talented slot receiver in the spread formation who runs the middle seam routes as well as any high school player. He knows when to break his route to open windows versus zone coverage and when to throttle down. Brecht isn’t afraid to catch the football in a crowd.
Carson Gresock Carson Gresock 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Upper Arlington | 2022 OH 5’10” 205 RB Upper Arlington
Gresock runs the football between tackles but can also break the perimeter when necessary. He makes quick cuts and accelerates through the line of scrimmage, consistently making the first defender miss. Gresock is also a threat catching the ball on the halfback screen.
Carter Brock 6’3” 215 LB Upper Arlington
Brock shows lateral quickness as an inside linebacker who keeps good tempo on the ball carrier by shuffling behind his defensive linemen then closing on the ball and delivering with force. He has a knack for slipping under blockers to make the tackle.
Rico Franklin-Davis 6’3” 235 DE Olentangy Orange
Rico doubles a defensive end and tight end who possesses both athleticism and toughness. As a defender he is a quick reactor to blocking schemes and consistently makes plays along the line of scrimmage, on the perimeter, or in the backfield. Rico is also a solid blocker as a tight end.
Leo Nixon 5’8” 170 RB Hilliard Davidson
Nixon is versatile enough to play as an I-formation tailback or a halfback in split or ace back sets. He has good vision making sharp cuts to the outside or cutting back against the grain. Nixon shows a burst once he gets into the openfield.
