In his first year as head coach at Naples, replacing legendary <strong>Bill Kramer, Rick Martin</strong> certainly made some major strides.
Sandwiched in between a 33-0 stunning loss to Palmetto Ridg<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-115082" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/03/Prep-Redzone-GrabbingtheSpotlight-300x187.jpg" alt="Naples Football 2021" width="300" height="187" />e and a 31-21 game against Miami Central in the state playoffs, the Golden Eagles were truly a program that caught the eye of those who cover this game.
Even that loss to Central – the eventual 6A state champions - was one that Naples could have easily won.
After that opening night loss to a Palmetto Ridge team that was enjoying its finest year in school history, the Golden Eagles soared to wins over Naples Gulf Coast (41-0), Immokalee (37-0), Lehigh (39-0), Naples Barron Collier (46-26) and Naples Lely (16-6) in the regular season – and North Fort Myers (17-7) and Barron Collier – shutting them down, 37-0.
With many of the prospects who helped this program head back toward the top returning, this is certainly a program that will be considered a force for a state championship run.
