Here are five leading rushers from Class 1A Ranks looking for productive senior seasons to spark their recruitment.
Luke Detwiler, 5’11”, 180, Lyndon– The Tigers have a recent history of producing talented ball carriers. Detwiler looks like he is next in line after rushing for more than 1,200 yards in 2020. He finished with more than 100 yards rushing in seven different games. He is quick, hard to tackle, and follows his blockers well. Detwiler found the end zone 17 times on the ground including a four-touchdown game against Pleasanton.
Tony Detwiler, 5’11”, 170, Central Heights – Central Heights has its own Detwiler to brag about. Tony, a quarterback, rushed for 1,039 yards while throwing for 833. The Viking signal-caller finished with 20 total touchdowns. He can throw accurately on the run, arm strength will be an area he wants to improve on. Detwiler is a talented athlete who also plays defensive back.
Lance Hoffsommer Lance Hoffsommer 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Sedgwick | 2022 State KS , 6’2”, 180, Sedgwick – Hoffsommer will be one of the top recruits in the Class of 2022 from Kansas. He rushed for 509 yards one of the leading totals in Class 1A, but it is his arm that will get him recruited by multiple schools at multiple levels of play. The Cardinal quarterback threw for almost 2,000 yards in 2020 and finished with 21 touchdown passes. He has a big arm and is an intelligent football player.
Ethan Hamilton, 5’6”, 155, Plainville – Another Cardinal quarterback from the Class of 2022 plays with Plainville. Hamilton rushed for 484 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. The Plainville junior also threw for 825 yards and seven touchdowns. Hamilton has a quick release and is a composed player behind center.
Ryan Stucky, 5’9”, 170, Sedgwick – Stucky plays all over the place. He can line up at receiver, running back, he could be a back-up quarterback. The Sedgwick Cardinal also plays linebacker. He finished his senior season with 377 yards rushing and 193 receiving yards. Stucky found the end zone 11 times and will look to increase that number in 2021.
