This weekend the Elite Exposure Showcase held it’s event in Baltimore, MD and some of the state’s top talent was on hand to make a name for themselves. In this article, we will go over who some of the Top Performers on the defensive side of the ball were at each position group and other notable players.
Defensive Linemen
The Top Performer on the defensive line was [player_tooltip player_id="90528" first="Jalen" last="Robertson"] from Archbishop Spalding High School. Robertson was dominant in the one on one portion of the camp and won every single rep. At 6’4’’ 240lbs, Robertson is pretty fast for his size running a the forty yard dash in 4.88 seconds, which was one of the fastest times for linemen. For Jalen having one of the best times of the day was fine, but having bragging rights over his twin brother, Jason, seemed to be the bigger personal accomplishment.
Another Top Performer was [player_tooltip player_id="90652" first="Mason" last="Robinson"] from Mcdonogh High School in Owings Mills, Maryland. Robinson was also one of the more dominant performers in the one on one portion of the camp. The 2023 defensive end showed a great combination of power, technique, quickness, and played with a motor that disrupted offensive linemen. Mason, who already holds a division 1 offer, should see his recruiting stock heat up this off season.
Linebackers
The Top Performer was 6’2’’ 215lbs Jason Robertson from Archbishop Spalding High School. Robertson was one of the more overall impressive defensive players of the day. He showed great man to man coverage skills in the passing portion of the camp by holding his own against shifty running backs, and showed his dominance in the pass rushing segment of the camp by effortlessly blowing past opposing offensive tackles. This Robertson twin may have been bested by his brother in the forty yard dash, but still ran an impressive laser time of 4.91 seconds.
Defensive Backs
The Top Performer for the defensive backs was Joshua Stinespring from Saint Paul’s School. Stinespring is a defensive technician and gave opposing receivers a hard time during the passing portion of the camp. With the amount of receivers more than doubling the number of defensive backs in attendance and other defensive backs shying away, Stinespring took numerous reps and won the majority of of them. It’s also noted that this class of 2023 lock down corner made it a point to constantly go against some of the better performing receivers in the camp, showing his appetite for competition. Joshua ran one of the fastest forty yard dashes at the camp by clocking in at 4.64 seconds.
Another Top Performer was Oluwarotimi Oyekunle from Edgewood High School. Timi, as he is affectionately known by his peers, was another dominant defensive back who played with a chip on his shoulder and didn’t back away from competition at the camp. Oyekunle showed excellent coverage skills, great ball skills, quick feet, and the toughness that you look for in a trustworthy defensive back. Look for the Timi to make plenty of plays for Edgewood High School next upcoming season.
