Here is a look at five members of the Class of 2023 looking for two seasons of improvement to increase their college recruiting stock.
Jett Vincent, 6’0”, 165, Wheatland-Grinnell – Vincent had a chance to shine during his sophomore season, which is part of the reason eight-man football is unique. He finished the 2020 season with 44 receptions, fifteen of which were for touchdowns. He is also an extremely solid defensive player who amassed 79 tackles and nine interceptions playing defensive back for the Thunderhawks.
Cade Johnson, 5’8”, 115, Wallace Springs – Johnson is a young raw talent who has two years to evolve for the Wildcats. He finished with28 catches, seven of which were for touchdowns. Johnson averaged 23-plus yards per reception. He could play wideout or tight end in the 11-man college game.
Braxton Lafferty Braxton Lafferty 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH Little River | 2023 State KS , 5’11”, 175, Little River – Lafferty is a talented athlete in a talented program. He caught 30 balls for 582 yards and 10 touchdowns. Lafferty is a multiple-position athlete who played running back and tight end for the Redskins. He rushed for 305 yards during his sophomore campaign.
Ashtin Cochran, 5’11”, 135, Fairfield – The Falcons receiver finished with 26 catches in his sophomore season. Cochran scored two touchdowns on receptions and two touchdowns on the ground. He will improve as an offensive weapon as he continues to get stronger.
Kaleb Wagenblast Kaleb Wagenblast 6'1" | 225 lbs | ATH Thunder Ridge | 2023 State KS , 6’1”, 210, Thunder Ridge – Wagenblast made 27 catches for the Thunder Ridge Longhorns in 2020. He rolled up 433 yards receiving and reached the end zone on six receptions. Wagenblast has a football frame and he will continue to improve his skills. Defensively, he finished with 82 tackles in 2020 playing defensive end and linebacker. He will be highly recruitable for college football programs.
