One of the top programs in Los Angeles is playing one of the top programs in the San Gabriel Valley this week and there are plenty of star power on both sides.
Unfortunately, there are some star players who have opted out of this game like Alemany quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="25028" first="Miller" last="Moss"] (USC) and Bishop Amat defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="25075" first="Dyson" last="McCutcheon"] (Washington).
But there are still very good players in this game who are college prospects and some who are still under the radar. Below are some players to keep an eye on from each team.
[player_tooltip player_id="25290" first="Floyd" last="Chalk"], Alemany, 2022
He had a pedestrian game in the Warriors’ 21-9 win over Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, rushing for just 59 yards on 12 carries. But as a sophomore he rushed for 1430 yards and 20 touchdowns which got him offers from Penn State and San Diego State. He is the best offensive playmaker in this game.

[player_tooltip player_id="25237" first="Ephesians" last="Prysock"], Alemany, 2022
Prysock is the No. 3 ranked defensive back in the state for the class of 2022 according to Prep Redzone. He had two receiving touchdowns in Alemany’s win over Notre Dame. Prysock has already eclipsed his receiving touchdown total from last season and is arguably the best defensive back in the county.

[player_tooltip player_id="25395" first="RJ" last="Jones"], Alemany, 2023
Joining Prysock in the Alemany secondary is [player_tooltip player_id="25395" first="RJ" last="Jones"], a 6-foot-1 sophomore who had a key interception against Notre Dame. He returned that interception 65-yards for Alemany’s first touchdown of the season. Jones is 185 pounds and already built like an upperclassman and could be a major recruit down the line.

[player_tooltip player_id="25244" first="Damonic" last="Williams"], Alemany, 2022
Williams reportedly transferred to Santa Margarita just three weeks ago but it was reported a week later that he returned to Alemany. He is the third ranked defensive lineman in California’s 2022 class according to Prep Redzone and is verbally committed to Cal. He and fellow defensive tackle Samiuela Sefa do an excellent job getting in the backfield for the Warriors.

Kyran Hayes, Bishop Amat, 2021
With McCutcheon opting out, Hayes is the best receiver for Bishop Amat. He impressed scouts at the SoCal National Preps Showcase in December. He has been a three year starter at receiver for the Lancers and does an excellent job bringing down 50/50 balls in man coverage. Hayes has an offer from Graceland University and should benefit by getting this short season of film out there for scouts.

Martin Rodriguez, Bishop Amat, 2021
Rodriguez was an All-Mission League defensive lineman last season and has been a key contributor to the Lancer’s front seven for three years now. He has helped lead them to back-to-back league championships and causes havoc in the running game as well as getting into the backfield.

Corey Johnson, Bishop Amat, 2023
Johnson is a sophomore safety who is heating up in the recruiting circles and can play anywhere in the secondary. He was offered by UNLV in February and the Rebels are very high on him. He had a great offseason on the 7-on-7 circuit will certainly add some size the next two years.

Tobin O’Dell, Bishop Amat, 2022
We finally get to a quarterback. O’Dell was solid last year for Bishop Amat as a sophomore but had accuracy issues as a lot of sophomores do. He is bigger, faster and stronger after this long offseason and has had plenty of time to work on the holes in his game. He was thrown into the fire as a sophomore and played well against top competition. He is a fun quarterback to watch and it will be interesting to see how scouts view him this summer.
