However, we are looking which position the players will fit best at the next level. The defensive backs are a talented position grouping in the 2022 class that has not attracted the attention that some of the other positions have. Let’s take a look at five talented defensive backs that are a part of the 2022 Prep RedZone rankings for the state of Arkansas.
Trent Bennett Trent Bennett 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB Little Rock Parkview | 2022 State AR -Little Rock Parkview
Little Rock Parkview has become a recruiting hot bed over the past few years. The Parkview Patriots have plenty of weapons on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Bennet is a hard-hitting defensive back that rarely misses tackles. Bennet does an impressive job of fending off blocks when he moves up to stop the run. Bennet has good coverage skills, and he can make plays on the ball and pick off plenty of passes as well. The Parkview safety has earned three scholarship offers up this point and has the potential to land some more before National Signing Day later in the year. Bennet has plenty of potential and is trending upward.
Omarion Dickens Omarion Dickens 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Prescott | 2022 State AR -Prescott
The Prescott Curley Wolf has a nose for the football. Dickens does an excellent job of reading the play. From that point he uses his speed well to get into a position to make a play on the football, whether it be forcing a fumble, or picking off a pass. Dickens is a player that will not be pushed around by bigger wide receivers. He does a good job of tackling and making sure he wraps up the ball carrier. He is not the type of defensive back to make a business decision and he will hit wide receivers and running backs. Dickens is one defensive back that has the potential to really blow up from a recruiting perspective this season.
Caleb Epperson Caleb Epperson 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Maumelle | 2022 State AR -Maumelle
The Maumelle Hornets have a talented roster going into the 2021 season. The defense for the Hornets is going to cause the opposition problems this season. Caleb Epperson Caleb Epperson 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Maumelle | 2022 State AR works as a cornerback and a safety for the Hornets, he does an impressive job of tackling the ball carrier. He does a solid job of watching the quarterback’s eyes and being able to make a play on the ball. Epperson is a player that is not going to be outworked and the effort and drive he gives is indicative on the field. Epperson is a player to keep an eye on as spring football starts to heat up.
Daniel Poole Daniel Poole 5'9" | 175 lbs | DB Stuttgart | 2022 State AR -Stuttgart
Daniel Poole Daniel Poole 5'9" | 175 lbs | DB Stuttgart | 2022 State AR has absolutely blazing speed in the secondary. He has no problem sticking with wide receivers. Poole does a terrific job of breaking up passes. He had nine pass break ups last season and certainly has the potential for more in 2021. What stands out the most about his play is that he is not afraid to get physical with opposing wide receivers. Poole racked up 44 tackles last season and I would expect him to improve that total this season. Poole has excellent potential, and his recruiting should blow up this offseason. He is one player that will have plenty of schools to choose from on National Signing Day.
Tamerius Bell Tamerius Bell 5'11" | 195 lbs | DB West Memphis | 2022 State AR – West Memphis
West Memphis is creative with how they are able to use Bell. Bell is a dynamic return man for West Memphis. He does an impressive job in coverage and he has a nose for the football. At 5-11 and 190 pounds, Bell is not afraid to make a tackle and he does a terrific job of wrapping the ball carrier up to make the tackle. Bell is going to be a player to keep an eye on at both the cornerback and the running back position. He is going to be a player that scouts start to take notice of this season. He has all the tools to play on Saturday and is a player that I expect to continue to trend upward.
