Prep Redzone looks at the current prospect rankings for New Jersey’s 2022 recruiting class. New Jersey was one state that could play some games last fall during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on some research, I believe you’ll see some changes after the next rankings update by Prep Redzone. For now, let’s look at where things stand in the 2022 New Jersey Football Prospect Rankings.
Today we look at New Jersey’s Top 2022 prospects from No. 35 to No. 26.
No. 35 [player_tooltip player_id="27993" first="JoJo" last="Bermudez"] Ι 5-10 Ι Wide Receiver Ι Cedar Creek
Bermudez will definitely rise in the updated rankings. The Rutgers commit caught 35 passes for 486 yards and two touchdowns last season. He also rushed 37 times for 410 yards and five touchdowns. It’s not much he can’t do on the football field.
No. 34 [player_tooltip player_id="27992" first="Tyler" last="Ochojski"] Ι 6-2 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι Freehold Boro
Ochojski made 56.5 total tackles and sacked the quarterback nine times during the 2020 season. He is getting interest from Yale and Penn.
No. 33 [player_tooltip player_id="27991" first="Alex" last="Benitez"] Ι 5-8 Ι Running Back Ι Montgomery
Benitez did a little of everything for his team last season. He completed 39-out-of-91 passes for 666 yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions. Benitez added 490 yards and seven touchdowns on 99 carries too. He still had enough energy on defense to make 55 total tackles. Now that’s an athlete!
No. 32 [player_tooltip player_id="27990" first="Turner" last="Inge"] Ι 5-11 Ι Defensive Back Ι Williamstown
Inge will be switched to the linebacker position when the next rankings come out. He was responsible for 63 total tackles last season. He also carried the football 96 times for 545 yards and nine touchdowns.
No. 31 [player_tooltip player_id="27989" first="Ryan" last="Butler"] Ι 5-11 Ι Running Back Ι Bergen Catholic
Butler committed to Princeton on Mar. 7. He had double-digit offers that included Air Force, Army, Columbia, and Dartmouth. Butler did damage both running and catching the football. He ran 129 times for 865 yards and 12 touchdowns and caught 19 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns last season.
No. 30 [player_tooltip player_id="27988" first="Elijah" last="Steward"] Ι 6-0 Ι Wide Receiver Ι Holy Spirit
Steward caught 24 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns last season.
No. 29 Ι [player_tooltip player_id="27987" first="Dominic" last="Brogna"] Ι 6-2 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι Donovan Catholic
Brogna is one of the more underrated prospects on this list. He holds an offer from Fordham.
No. 28 [player_tooltip player_id="27986" first="Jimel" last="Quann"] Ι 6-0 Ι Running Back Ι Winslow
Quann actually did more on defense than offense last season. He carried the football 36 times for 204 yards and four touchdowns last season. Defensively, he made 56 total tackles (36 solos).
No. 27 [player_tooltip player_id="27985" first="Christian" last="LeBrun"] Ι 6-1 Ι Defensive Back Ι St. Peter’s Prep
Lebrun made 26 total tackles and intercepted one pass last season for SPP. He should skyrocket up these rankings after the next update. He has an offer from UMass, Nebraska, ODU, Pitt, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech. Yes, No. 27 is a bit too low for LeBrun.
No. 26 [player_tooltip player_id="27984" first="Kanye" last="Udoh"] Ι 6-0 Ι Running Back Ι St. Augustine
Udoh carried the football 129 times for 649 yards and six touchdowns last season. He’s another candidate for a higher ranking after the next update. Udoh has an offer from Buffalo, UConn, UMass, Nebraska, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, and West Virginia.
