Venice Always Building For The Present

If John Peacock has learned anything in his impressive high school coaching career, it’s that there will always be a tomorrow – win or lose. His Venice teams have been on both sides of the fence – and that is why every season ends with a look toward the future. The Indians may have finished 10-4 this past season, but in those four losses to national champion IMG Academy, 5A state champion Plantation American Heritage, Bradenton Manatee and 7A state champion St. Thomas Aquinas, this team was in the game from start to finish! This spring and the off-season will tell a lot about this football program. Coming back on the offensive side of the ball for 2022 includes receivers Miles Weston (6-0, 170), Jayshon Platt (6-2, 170) and Omari Hayes (5-10, 170). In addition, running back D.J. Escort (6-1, 210), linemen Riley Cleary (6-5, 265) and Michael Raney (6-4, 270), and quarterback Ryan Browne, a 6-5, 210-pounder who has plenty of talent. Defensively, linebacker Martin Ramos (5-11, 195) and safety Dasavion Cassaway (5-11, 195). The Class of 2023 also has some players to keep an eye on for the Indians. Versatile (FS/CB) Elliott Washington (6-1, 185) is an all-around talent, who also gets it done in the classroom (3.5 GPA) and defensive end Damon Wilson (6-4, 230) and tackle Trento Kintigh (6-4, 280) are impressive. Offensive lineman Billal Omar (6-5, 280), receivers Larry Shannon (6-2, 170) and Keon Sears (5-8, 160) and kicker Kirill Kotov will also add to this gifted program. Class of 2024 running back Alvin Johnson (5-10, 160) is already someone to watch on the football field and in the classroom, where he holds down a 3.5 GPA. You Can Contact Larry Blustein with prospect or team information at: Foridakids1@aol.com.
