In my eyes, these guys all trained hard during the pandemic and performed at a high level when it came to club football. For example, the 4 piece DB combo at Poly, all came out to play and performed well. They are trained by their great DB coach Rashad Wadood, a former player at ASU. Long Beach Poly produces the most NFL players in the world as a high school. They led their club team, Long Beach Grind to a 5-1 record, playing some of the best teams in Southern California and beating them.
Peyton Woodyard is the best DB in his 2024 class and soon will be the nation’s best. St. John Bosco is one of the best in the nation right now and they have been producing a great amount of D1 athletes and to the NFL. They have so many top prospects right now that they are favored to be the #1 team in the country. In my eyes, they are. Athletes like Peyton don’t come around often, especially a straight A student. He shows the real definition of what a student athlete should be. Many of the young kids will look up to him as he is a great leader.
Peyton Woodyard, St. John Bosco, DB, 2024
A 6’1”, 180 pound incoming freshmen DB who will shine at St. John Bosco. To already have three offers and haven’t even played a down of football, you have to be special. He has offers from ASU, UNLV, FSU, Kansas and Oregon State. When I saw him at the National Prep Showcase he already had the body of a senior CB, his speed was agile and no where near looked like an 8th grader. He will be a very special player and it starts with him being a complete student athlete. 4.0 GPA. He will have over 20 offers by the end of his sophomore year. He should be the best DB in the nation soon.
Daylen Austin, Long Beach Poly, ATH, DB, 2023
A 6’2, 180 pound ATH out of Long Beach. This kid is only a sophomore and already has 3 PAC 12 offers. Utah, Oregon State, Colorado and San Jose state. In his club season, he has guarded all of the best players on every team. 6 weeks: 0 catches, 0 interference penalties, lots of PBU’s, 2 interceptions and a touchdown. Daylen also guarded Virginia Tech Commit DJ Harvey DJ Harvey 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Sierra Canyon | 2021 State CA and shut him down. He is already one of the best DB’s in his class and will soon be one of the top DB’s in the nation. All around DB who every D1 school should be looking for this type of caliber DB.
Travis “Mookie” Davis, Long Beach Poly, DB, 2022
A 5’11, 180 pound lockdown DB who put on a show in his club season, locking down many receivers who were D1 caliber. He plays like the honey badger. He comes shooting in fast when he tackles which makes him a sharp player. Ball hawk and reads the coverage well. Great tackler, who will only get better as he gets older. He was impressive, playing at a high level in his club season. High IQ for a DB coming from the 2022 class. Excited to see his growth he should soon be getting offers.
Torion White, Long Beach Poly, DB, 2021
A 6’2, 185 pound CB and FS. His career varsity stats in only one season are 26 solo and 32 total tackles. He caused 2 fumbles and recovered 1 and also has 1 interception. He has good instincts where the ball will be. He closes in on tackles and is a good tackler. He can get physical when playing press. I believe he will find a home soon because he is an athletic kid. He has been working hard and will be ready whenever a school is ready to offer.
Anthony “TJ” Curtis, Long Beach Poly, ATH, 2021
A 6’0, 180 pound senior who is very vocal and likes to take the leadership role as he is in his senior year. His Jr. year he caught 12 receptions for 139 yards and 2 touchdown. 8 solo and 10 total tackles with 6 pass defensed. He made the game winning interception in double OT against Sierra Canyon. He is shifty and can be used all around but mostly dangerous at the slot. He is a lockdown corner. He takes pride in his passed defenses which shows you what type of a player he is when things get rolling around him. He should find a new home soon. Gifted athlete.
Mychai Williams, Dorsey, DB, 2022
A 6’2, 190 pound DB. He has an older brother who plays at UNLV. He is a fantastic tackler, who is physical. He is a big corner with speed who can cover big receivers or small. He is tall and lengthy which leads to him deflecting passes. In only 5 games, he had 10 solo and 14 total tackles and 2 interceptions. He has been working hard throughout the pandemic and going to showcases. He should have a great senior season.
Sean Brown, Crespi, DB, 2023
A class of 2023, his height and arm length can make him into an all around DB. Only a sophomore, he did very well at the National Prep Showcase in Santa Clarita. He will be labeled as a big corner but I could see him converting to safety or even a outside backer. He told me he couldn’t wait to finally play varsity but the pandemic delayed that. He will soon get his shot.
