Signing Day 2021 has come and gone here is a look at a talented class of Kansas Athletes who signed with Northwest Missouri State University.
Coach Rich Wright and the Bearcat coaching staff have added to their offensive line ranks with three of the best big men in Kansas.
OL, [player_tooltip player_id="35536" first="Ewan" last="Mills"], 6’0”, 285, Seaman – Mills is the best center I saw play in person in 2020. He is a beast in the weight room and can captain an offense. Seaman had one of its best recent football seasons and Mills was at the center of that success. He has great balance and is consistent with his shotgun snaps.
OL, [player_tooltip player_id="35370" first="Luke" last="Zegunis"], 6’0”, 255, Olathe West – Zegunis is has been ranked near the top of the Class of 2021 since the Prep Redzone Kansas player rankings were first released. He is a skilled run blocker and has solid footwork.
OL, [player_tooltip player_id="49698" first="Cole" last="Rues"], 6’5”, 240, Shawnee Mission South – Rues has the biggest frame of three Kansas lineman in this class. He is a pass-blocking specialist. The key question with Rues is which side of the line will he compete for the right side or left side.
RB, [player_tooltip player_id="35347" first="Tank" last="Young"], 5’7”, 185, St. Thomas Aquinas– Young had multiple Division I offers, but he chose to play for Northwest Missouri instead of MIAA rival Washburn. Young is a bruising back who can move the chains. He rushed for 1,300-plus yards and 16 touchdowns during her senior season. Young will have awesome blocking in front of him as the three above lineman could one day be lead blocking for him.
DL, [player_tooltip player_id="77188" first="Clayton" last="Power"], 6’2”, 301 Blue Valley– Power is a space-eating beast on a defensive line. He can tackle, force double teams, and free up his linebacking corps. This is a big-time signing for Northwest and Power will only get better working again high caliber offensive lineman in practice.
DB, [player_tooltip player_id="35397" first="Andrew" last="Bradley"], 6’0”, 175, Blue Valley West – Bradley is a fast football player who also ran on his high school 4X100 relay team. He can compete right away for playing time on the Northwest special team units. Bradley had multiple offers and deservedly so.
DB, Zaden Marroquin, 5’10”, 170, Olathe East– Marroquin looks like a football player and he has a mean streak. He played strong safety for Olathe East. Watching highlight film of the Hawk senior made me think of the days of Joey Browner and Ronnie Lott.
TE, [player_tooltip player_id="100862" first="Cameron" last="Wise"], West Franklin – Wise is a raw talent who could fit into multiple roles in the future. Northwest recruited Wise to play tight end, but he could also play linebacker or defensive end. Wise is scheduled to be a participant in the 2021 Kansas Shrine Bowl.
