There were 10 Division II and III programs that tapped into the talent the Class of 2021 had to offer. Here are the 13 signees from our Class of ’21 Player Rankings that will be leaving the state to continue their athletic and academic careers.
Carleton College, MN (DIII)
[player_tooltip player_id="49708" first="CJ" last="Richards"] – Rock Creek, 5’10”, 220, LB
Richards was a tackling machine his senior year. The Rock Creek product piled up 109 total tackles, and three forced fumbles. His ability to read where the ball is going will help him tremendously at Carleton.
Carthage College, WI, (DIII)
[player_tooltip player_id="49686" first="Cameron" last="Penny"] – St. Thomas Aquinas, 6’1”, 215, DL/LB
The leading sack-man in 5A could make an immediate impact for the Carthage defense. Penny has a quick first-step coming off the edge, and is a relentless pass-rusher. He could possibly play a little outside-linebacker as well.
Colorado School of Mines, CO (DII)
[player_tooltip player_id="35362" first="Ethan" last="Kremer"] – Mill Valley, 6’0”, 265, DL
The Hardrockers are getting a beast in Kremer. In 2020 he racked up 53 total tackles; 14.5 being for a loss, and seven sacks. Kremer was the 2020 Buck Buchanan Award winner, and he is also a two-time State Champion in wrestling.
Concordia University Chicago, IL (DIII)
[player_tooltip player_id="49736" first="Robbie" last="Malcom"] – Topeka West, 6’4”, 290, OL
Malcom’s versatility on the offensive-line could lead to early playing time. He has the ability to play offensive-guard and tackle. Malcom will be an interesting prospect for the Cougars.
Iowa Wesleyan University, IA (DIII)
[player_tooltip player_id="35492" first="Aden" last="Dumcum"] – Pleasant Ridge, 6’2”, 280, OL
Dumcum shows potential of being a solid interior offensive-lineman at Iowa Wesleyan. Right now he depends on his size and strength, but I believe he will become a more polished lineman after a year with the Tigers.
Missouri S&T, MO (DII)
[player_tooltip player_id="35379" first="Joshua" last="Sanders"] – Maize, 5’7”, 180, RB
Sanders dominated during his senior campaign. The Maize senior was named 5A Player of the Year after amassing over 2,400 all-purpose yards and 31 total touchdowns. His play making ability will be on full display at Missouri S&T.
Quincy University, IL (DII)
[player_tooltip player_id="35406" first="Ty’Zhaun" last="Jackson"] – Manhattan, 5’8”, 165, ATH
Jackson could be a game changer for Quincy. He’s an elite return-man, which is why he was named to the 6A All-State Team. Jackson also shows good skills as a safety in the pass and run game.
[player_tooltip player_id="100147" first="Nathan" last="Smith"] – Bishop Miege, 6’3”, 260
Quincy is getting a lineman that knows a thing or two about winning with Smith. The two-time State Champion brings a winning mentality, and a polished skillset. He shows good footwork in pass-protection, and he’s athletic enough to get up field when he pulls.
Ripon College, WI (DIII)
[player_tooltip player_id="35499" first="Cinsere" last="Sanders"] – Clay Center, 5’11”, 220, LB
Sanders is an athletic outside-linebacker that shows good awareness in zone-coverage, and can get in the backfield quickly on blitzes. He will be a good addition to their linebacker corps.
South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, SD (DII):
[player_tooltip player_id="49751" first="Caden" last="Vinduska"] – Rock Creek, 6’3”, 200, LB
Vinduska makes some noise coming off the edge. He accumulated 88 total tackles; 10 being for a loss, with three sacks and two safeties during his senior year. Vinduska could make an impact his first year on campus.
William Jewell College, MO (DII)
Byron Fitchpatrick Jr. – Maize South, 5’9”, 160, WR
Fitchpatrick could be a player that William Jewell uses in a variety of ways. He’s an explosive athlete that can take handoffs on sweeps, or he can run by defenders in the slot, and he can also make plays on special-teams.
[player_tooltip player_id="49719" first="Ethan" last="Reynolds"] – Gardner-Edgerton, 5’10”, 165, WR/DB
William Jewell gets another playmaker with the signing of Reynolds. He was an All-State receiver his senior year, but he will switching to defensive-back at the next level. He will be a good coverage safety.
[player_tooltip player_id="35409" first="Adam" last="Callahan"] – Baldwin, 6’0”, 200, LB
Callahan is another great addition to Jewell’s defense. He can play inside and outside linebacker, and shows the ability to quickly diagnose plays.
