Elite Athletes Anxious For 2021 Season

While many were happy to see the 2020 season – with all its Covid obstacles – fade into the sunset – others happened to enjoy the year. With so many negatives going on around all of us this past year, there were several high school football players who turned that adversity into something positive, and memorable. <img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-104625" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/02/Florida-Player-Spotlight-300x188.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="188" />With several athletes having career seasons, the only thing to do now is strike while the iron is hot – and that is something that college coaches are anxious to watch. Whether it be quarterback passing yards, sacks, rushing yards and touchdowns, and interceptions and tackles, this season was indeed good to some premier prospects who are firmly on the radar screen. Today, we give you five difference makers who are ready to play off 2020 as a springboard for the future: <strong>2022 – [player_tooltip player_id="50271" first="A.J." last="Cottrill"], LB, Tampa Jesuit. </strong>When you play for one of the best teams in the state, there are certain standards that have to be met by each and every player – and there is no doubting that this past season, here is someone who was all over the field, making plays and keeping this program in the mix until a last-minute field goal did them in and once again ended the season. But watching this standout perform, his 209 tackles not only led the team and area, but was the best in the state and among the best nationally. Big time football player. Has the opportunity to go against impressive talent every day in practice – thanks to what head coach <strong>Robert Paxia</strong> and the Braves have on this gifted roster. Finished with nine interceptions this past season. Add in this freshman, who finished with 1,626 yards and 10 touchdowns – and you have someone who will be a force over the next three seasons. You watch him run the ball and forget that he’s just a freshman. Watch this young man perform and you are instantly sold by everything that he does. You cannot teach some of the things that this young man brings to the table.
