Today we will be taking a look at the DuPage Valley Conference Top Scorers. The teams highlighted are Dekalb, Metea Valley, Naperville Central, Naperville North, Neuqua Valley, and Waubonsie Valley.
Dekalb: [player_tooltip player_id="20224" first="Trenton" last="Kyler"] 21’ QB 6’0 170 Twitter Hudl Kyler is a lefty QB who gets it done in the running game with his scrambling ability and in the passing game. He has a touch on the deep ball, makes level three throws, and puts the ball in the WR basket. When the pocket is collapsing he uses his pocket footwork to evade the pressure delivering the ball downfield for a completion. Kyler can put zip on the ball as well when he needs to and has quick acceleration when he's scrambling. He's a dual-threat QB that is ready to play this spring. [player_tooltip player_id="20250" first="Trenton" last="Mccollum"] 21’ RB 6’0 175 Twitter Hudl Mccollum is an N/S runner that also mixes in the E/W style, he has quick acceleration, speed, and breaks arm tackles making plays for Dekalb's offense. Once he catches the ball coming out of the backfield, he plants his foot to get upfield where he fights for extra yards. Mccollum is also a good return man by reading his blocks and giving his team a good starting field position with his playmaking abilities. [player_tooltip player_id="20885" first="Toriano" last="Tate"] 22’ WR 6’1 195 Twitter Hudl Tate is a slot WR that's quick off the line of scrimmage which he uses to burn the defenders on a 9 route downfield. He makes contested catches, runs jet sweep, and has the speed to be a deep threat each play. Tate is deadly in the passing game by finding soft spots in the defense and he works in the running game by blocking downfield. Metea Valley: [player_tooltip player_id="65846" first="Jalen" last="Johnson"] 22’ WR 6’3 175 Twitter Hudl Johnson has a lot of potential heading into this spring season and is a name to keep an eye on. He's a deep threat who makes contested catches and blocks downfield. Once he catches the ball he plants his foot to get upfield turning a quick route into a huge gain. Logan Frederick 22’ QB 6’3 175 Twitter Hudl Frederick is a lefty QB who has a touch on the deep ball, can throw on the run, and can put zip on the ball. He has pocket footwork to evade pressure where he gets the ball off to a man downfield and as a last resort if nobody is open pulls the ball down to scramble. He's going to be a player to keep an eye on in this conference and one to put on your radar. Balin Hoag 21’ G 6’1 250 Twitter Hudl Hoag gets it done in the trenches for Metea Valley, he creates running lanes, blocks in open space when he's pulling, in pass protection he's able to hold his own neutralizing the pass rush. His strength is showcased when he drives his feet resulting in pancaking the defenders. His quickness helps him block downfield getting to the 2nd level blocks to create a bigger running lane for his teammates. John Flynn 22’ WR 6’0 175 Twitter Hudl Flynn is a slot WR who catches the ball and gets upfield and blocks downfield. He uses his speed cut to create separation from defenders and sits in the holes of the defense for a completion downfield. He has room to develop further and hone his craft, a name to watch heading into the spring. Naperville Central: [player_tooltip player_id="20879" first="Reggie" last="Fleurima"] 22’ WR 6’2 205 Twitter Hudl Fleurima is a deep threat with his quick acceleration off the line of scrimmage and speed to take the top off of the defense. He makes contested catches by high pointing the ball and breaks arm tackles when he turns upfield after catching the ball. Fleurima blocks downfield plays through the whistle and is a playmaker for this Naperville Central offense. RB Duo: Antonio Torres 22’ RB 6’0 180 & Niko Gordon 22’ RB 5’10 185 Twitter Hudl 1 Hudl 2 With Torres transferring in from Waubonsie Valley, Naperville Central is going to have TWO backs that can get it done in the ground and passing game on their offense. Torres is a playmaker who runs hard, has the vision to see cutback lanes, and is a mix between N/S and E/W runner. He can also catch out of the backfield and lines up in the slot at WR. Gordon is an N/S runner with quick acceleration, fights for extra yards, and can bounce plays outside. He's also a playmaker and once he catches the ball he plants his foot to turn upfield. It'll be a sight to see when the spring season starts to see how these two backs are used and what each one accomplishes. Naperville North: [player_tooltip player_id="65737" first="Zeke" last="Williams"] 22’ WR 6’1 175 Twitter Hudl Williams is a slot WR that runs jet sweeps and is a deep threat with his quick acceleration getting to his top speed. He makes contested catches by high pointing the ball, has the body control to stay up after the defender tries to tackle him/push him out of bounds, and sticks at the top of his routes creating separation from the defenders. He shows his elusiveness by making defenders miss and by breaking arm tackles as well. Williams is a playmaker for this offense and a player that the defense has to gameplan around. Nick Grace 21’ T 6’5 255 Twitter Hudl Grace has a PWO for Cincinnati and his film shows why, he blocks in open space, creates running lanes, and gets to the 2nd level blocks. In pass protection, he stays squared forcing the outside rush and not giving up the sack where he also plays through the whistle. Neuqua Valley: [player_tooltip player_id="20360" first="Armani" last="Moreno"] 21’ RB 6’1 215 Twitter Hudl Moreno is a Grand Valley State Commit, he's an N/S runner who isn't afraid to lower his shoulder, plays through contact, and reads his blocks. He uses his jump cuts and quick acceleration to fight for extra yards, can catch coming out of the backfield, and plants his foot to get upfield. Moreno is a playmaker for this dominant offense and is a name to watch this spring. RJ Cluxton Jr 22’ QB 6’3 205 Twitter Hudl Cluxton has a touch on the deep ball, can throw on the run, and puts the ball in the receiver's basket. He delivers the ball under pressure, makes level three throws, and has fluid arm motion. In the pocket, he uses his footwork to extend plays and deliver the ball downfield to the open receiver. Cluxton has a lot of upside heading into the spring season, keep an eye on how he's developed from the last time he stepped foot on the field for Neuqua Valley. Waubonsie Valley: Nathan Pappas 22’ QB 6’1 175 Twitter Hudl Pappas can throw on the run, put a touch on the deep ball, and make level three throws. He puts the ball in the receiver's basket with his fluid arm motion and can put zip on the ball. His arm strength is shown by making corner route throws on a consistent basis and he can get it done on the ground by scrambling for a 1st down. Pappas still has room to develop and grow as a QB from last season's film, but with having over a year to hone his craft don't be surprised if he has a breakout season. Sean Clinton 21’ WR 6’1 155 Twitter Hudl Clinton is a Middlebury Commit, he's a deep threat who is quick off the line of scrimmage and the speed to blow by defenders. He runs a nice 9 route, high points the ball to makes contested catches, catches in traffic, and brings in the sideline catch. Clinton breaks at the top of his routes creating separation from the defender, once he catches the ball he plants his foot and gets upfield. He also blocks downfield in the running game, least to say that Clinton is a playmaker and a dominant player for Waubonsie Valley's offense. Notables: Kalen Riley Richardson 22’ RB - Metea Valley Twitter Hudl Jake Pualline 22’ T 6’2 290 - Metea Valley Twitter Hudl Owen Prucha 22’ QB 5’11 167 - Naperville Central Twitter Hudl Austin Longmire 21’ RB/FB 5’7 220 - Naperville Central Twitter Hudl Aidan Ellison 21' K 5'11 190 - Naperville Central Twitter Hudl Ben Kuefler 21’ C/LS 6’0 229 - Naperville North Twitter Hudl Lontrez Duckworth 21’ RB 5’10 205 - Naperville North Twitter Hudl Grant Larkin 23’ WR 6’0 175 - Neuqua Valley Twitter Hudl Jaden McGee 23’ RB 6’1 215 - Neuqua Valley Twitter Hudl Josh Sullivan 22’ WR 5’8 150 - Waubonsie Valley Hudl Cody Wilberg 22’ TE 6’3 185 - Waubonsie Valley Twitter Hudl Sam Mika 22’ OL 6’4 280 - Waubonsie Valley Hudl Tyler Helbing 22’ WR 6’2 170 - Waubonsie Valley Twitter Hudl
There's an abundance of talent in the DVC, each team has talented players on it that are going to go play at the next level after this spring season. They also have up-and-coming players that are going to do the same, you need to keep an eye on this conference for years to come.
