Class of ’22 Under the Radar: OL

With 7 players in the top 44 in the class of 2022, there is a great abundance of talent at the OL position.  In addition, there are also several talented Offensive Linemen that are looking to move up on the list during their senior season in 2021.  Here are 5 under the radar Offensive Linemen who should get the attention of college football teams. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35570" first="Tony" last="Caballero"], 6’3, 290, Bonner Springs</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="35570" first="Tony" last="Caballero"] is the 11th ranked OL and the 78th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He plays as a RT.  When run blocking, he fires out low, quickly shoots his hands and placing them on the chest of the 5T while delivering a powerful punch, uses his very good play strength and leverage to drive his man off the ball and displays excellent physical toughness as he finishes the block to the ground with ease for a pancake.  In pass pro, he bends at the knee, keeps his feet moving and uses his quickness to prevent himself from getting beat inside or uses his play strength and leverage to anchor when bullrushed. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35587" first="Shae" last="Lefort"], 6’2, 291, Salina South</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="35587" first="Shae" last="Lefort"] is the 12th ranked OL and the 89th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He plays as a RT.  While run blocking, he uses his very good quickness and agility to pull left on trap plays while using his play strength to deliver a crushing block on the NT or DT while on the move.  In pass pro, he uses his size and awesome play strength to physically overwhelm the DE or blitzing LB at the point of attack as he tosses them to the ground with ease. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91368" first="Gabe" last="Peterson"], 6’3, 240, Blue Valley NW</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="91368" first="Gabe" last="Peterson"] is the 15th ranked OL and the 93rd ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He plays as a C.  While run blocking, he plays at a good pad level, beats the 1T to the punch with his hands, uses his leverage to drive him off the ball and can also use his good quickness and agility to get to the 2nd level to block the MLB or ILB.  In pass pro, he quickly helps out the OG blocking the 1T while keeping his pads down and winning battles with his hands inside and shows very good physical toughness as he finishes blocks to the ground. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35637" first="Acen" last="Villegas"], 6’0, 275, Lawrence</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="35637" first="Acen" last="Villegas"] is the 16th ranked OL and the 94th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  His stellar play on the line opened up holes for star RB [player_tooltip player_id="35344" first="Devin" last="Neal"] and enabled the Lions of Lawrence High School to have their best season in a while.  He plays as a LG.  While run blocking, he quickly gets his hat across the 3T and uses his very good leverage, hand use and play strength to drive his man off the ball.  When reach blocking at the 2nd level, he uses his quickness and play speed to get to the LB and uses his size and play strength to overpower his man with ease.  In pass pro, he bends at the knee, sinks his hips, and shoots his hands quickly and violently delivering a powerful punch to the 3T or 2i and keeps his feet moving to maintain a good distance between him and the QB. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91414" first="Jack" last="Muller"], 6’1, 248, Shawnee Mission East</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="91414" first="Jack" last="Muller"] is the 20th ranked OL and the 126th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He plays as a LT.  When run blocking, he fires out quickly, uses his very good athletic ability to pull through the hole on power plays,  and is able to win battles with LB with his very good play strength and physical toughness as he opens up big running lanes for the RB.  In pass pro, he keeps his feet moving constantly, bends well and sinks his hips while dominating at the point of attack with his hand use and play strength.
