When head coach Beau Johnson and his football team didn’t make it to the 1A state title game this past season, there were several reasons why.
First of all the pandemic, which affected everyone, was valid, especially for a team that was coming off a state championship appearance in 2019 and had plenty of holes to fill – on both sides of the ball.

Losses to Chipley (28-26), Marianna (20-14), Panama City Bay (36-33) and Sneads (21-18) could have gone either way, so you can see why there is so much optimism in the off-season.
The rising senior (2022) class is certainly going to be a place where the experience and leadership will surface.
Prospects such as Michael Abbott (OL/LB), Royce Bailey (WR/LB),
Kayson Chapman (WR), Dekel Edwards (DB), [player_tooltip player_id="50191" first="Kaiden" last="Hatchett"] (WR/SS, 3.7 GPA), Ben Jones (CB), Garrett Martin (FB/LB, 3.7 GPA), Logan Martin (OL/NG, 3.7 GPA), Ayden McPherson (OL/DL, 4.0 GPA 21 ACT OL/DL), Devyn Miller (OC/DL), Jarian Mosley (6’2 215 TE 3.0 GPA) and Ryan Wooden (NG) will be counted on.
The rising junior (2023) class also has top prospects as well as depth that will certainly go a long way this coming season. Athletes like Kelvin Anderson (OLB/RB), Elam Johnson (RB/OLB), Yante Miller (DL/OL), Deterryan Murphy (CB), Josh Pope (QB/K), Jaelon Porter (OT/DL), William Rebollar (NG), Deante Reed (NG/OG), Andre Williams (WR/DB) and Tevaun Wint (OLB/WR).
Coach Johnson is very high on his current freshman (2024) class – which features Amarion Hover (MLB/RB) and Jordan Pride (CB/QB).
