With the recent release of the 2021 Prep RedZone Arkansas rankings, we are going to take a look at some players that have moved up the rankings. With the season having come to a close and the early signing period over with and the February signing period only a few days away it is time to examine who moved up some spots.
Marlon Crocket-Cabot-Wide Receiver
Crocket played well throughout his high school career. He earned a state championship at Searcy High School as a junior before transferring to Cabot for his senior season. Crocket committed to the Memphis Tigers during the early signing period. What he will bring to Memphis is a big play threat from all over the field. Over the past two seasons, Crocket racked up 95 receptions for 1,628 yards and 21 touchdowns.
[player_tooltip player_id="74969" first="Kam" last="Turner"]-Rivercrest-Athlete
[player_tooltip player_id="74969" first="Kam" last="Turner"] did a little bit of everything for the Rivercrest Colts. Him moving up the rankings was not a big surprise. Turner was number three in the country in total offense this season with 4,707 yards and 66 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball Turner had 75 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and five interceptions this season. Turner moved up easily in the player rankings on this go around. He committed to play football at Arkansas State. His solid play over the past few seasons made him a no brainer for Arkansas State as well as his spot in the rankings.
[player_tooltip player_id="74973" first="Austin" last="Ledbetter"]-Bryant-Quarterback
After Bryant won another 7-A state championship, it was a no brainer to move Ledbetter up the player rankings. Ledbetter has committed to play baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks. In his career Ledbetter passed for 6,168 yards, 82 touchdowns, and only 13 interceptions. He has the arm strength and accuracy to be a division one football player as well and I would not be surprised to see him join the quarterback room at Arkansas. He is not afraid to use his legs to extend the plays and pick up first downs. The young man will win no matter the sport, whether it be football or baseball.
[player_tooltip player_id="92659" first="Bruin" last="Barnes"]-Hamburg-Defensive Back
The town of Hamburg has always produced solid athletes. [player_tooltip player_id="92659" first="Bruin" last="Barnes"] is another in a long line of players to come down the pipeline. Over the past two seasons, he has racked up 160 tackles, seven interceptions, 10 tackles for loss, and six force fumbles. Barnes delivers a hard hit, and he does not shy away from delivering a hit at all. Barnes has the speed to fight off blocks, but he also is rarely outran by opposing receivers. Central Arkansas landed a steal in Barnes. The young man is a great addition to a talented Bears team.
[player_tooltip player_id="75047" first="Cooper" last="White"]-Pulaski Academy-Wide Receiver
One player that has produced at a high level throughout his high school career has been [player_tooltip player_id="75047" first="Cooper" last="White"]. White hauled in 63 receptions, 1,285 yards, and 18 touchdowns. He is a threat to score from anywhere on the field. White is a solid router runner, and he has excellent hands, which makes him a dangerous wide receiver to contend with. White has had a solid career and it is going to be interesting to see where White plays his college football. The young man is simply too productive not to be playing on Saturdays.
