2022 Rankings: Wide Receiver Breakdown

The 2022 player rankings were recently updated and the next group of players up for review are the Wide Receivers.  The players listed are amongst the best in their class: &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  2 – POS[Rank] #1.  [player_tooltip player_id="28631" first="Shaleak" last="Knotts"], 6’2” 175, Monroe HS.</strong>  He is an athletic, sure-handed receiver who makes a high number of catches in traffic.  He runs precision pass routes and displays ability to separate from defender.  He accelerates after making the catch and outruns the defender to gain big yardage, a threat to score anytime the ball is in his hands.  He will continue to ignite the offense during the upcoming season. &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  16 – POS[Rank] #2.  [player_tooltip player_id="28658" first="William" last="Hawkins IV"], 6’4” 210, Heritage HS.</strong>  He runs precision pass routes and separates from the defender very quickly.  Displays the athletic ability to make adjustment to catch bad passes.  He has powerful hands and catches the ball in his hands.  He is a big receiver who is a combination of speed and power.  His stock rose after strong performances during a busy offseason camp schedule, highlighted by his performance at the VTO Sports All-American Challenge at IMG Academy. Big number production season is expected during the upcoming season. &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  17 – POS[Rank] #3.  [player_tooltip player_id="28641" first="Dakota" last="Twitty"], 6’4” 205, Thomas Jefferson Academy HS.</strong>  Big receiver who uses his body to shield off the defender to make the catch.  He runs good pass patterns and displays good speed in the open field.  Displays ability to make catches in traffic.  His high level of play is expected to continue during the upcoming season. &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  19 – POS[Rank] #4.  [player_tooltip player_id="28653" first="Darius" last="Kane"], 6’0” 170, Eastern Alamance HS.</strong>   He was the leader in receiving yards amongst Sophomore Wide Receivers in NC during the 2019 season.  He displays the ability to separate from the defender to make the catch in traffic.  Displays ability to get open on the long ball with ease.  He is expected to continue a high-level of play during the upcoming season. &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  23 – POS[Rank] #5.  [player_tooltip player_id="28651" first="Mehki" last="Wall"], 5’10” 160, Dudley HS.</strong>  Athletic receiver with explosive speed to run past defenders.  Displays ability to make catches in traffic and on the long ball passing routes.  He is a dual threat to score with the ball in his hands as a receiver and as a kick-off returner.  His exciting play is expected to continue during the upcoming season. &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  26 – POS[Rank] #6.  [player_tooltip player_id="28657" first="Tyric" last="McKendall"], 6,1” 195, Lee County HS. </strong> Displays solid hands while making catches made in traffic.  Runs good passing routes and displays good speed in the open field to gain big yardage.  His solid level of play is expected to continue during the upcoming season. &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  65 – POS[Rank] #7.  [player_tooltip player_id="28679" first="Landyn" last="Backey"], 5’11” 175, Weddington HS.</strong>  Displays ability to continue to gain yardage after contact is made.  Strong short passing route patterns enables him to make a high number of catches.  He is expected to continue to improve his skills during the upcoming season. &nbsp; <strong>State Rank:  66 – POS[Rank] #8.  [player_tooltip player_id="98198" first="Brodrick" last="Gooch"], 6’0” 200, Heritage HS.</strong>  He runs pass routes well and makes catches in traffic.  Displays strength and quickness to separate from the defender.  He will team up with Will Hawkins to form one of the top Wide Receiver combos in NC.  The expectations are high as he prepares for the upcoming season. &nbsp; &nbsp; <strong> </strong>
