[player_tooltip player_id="38712" first="Braden" last="Kirkland"] - Shawnee (Ranked #58 Overall)
We kick off the breakdowns with a breakout star from the 2020 season. Shawnee offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38712" first="Braden" last="Kirkland"] is a newcomer on this batch of rankings after a very strong junior season. Shawnee had several players that fit that category this year under first year head coach Jason Sexton. Kirkland is a very physical and strong offensive lineman that will more than likely play on the interior of the offensive line at the next level. Like we said with Kirkland, he’s a newcomer but he’s a prospect that is without a doubt on the rise. Look for Kirkland to jump up the rankings again in our next ranking update after more evaluation.
[player_tooltip player_id="38673" first="Cade" last="McConnell"] - Choctaw (Ranked #9 Overall)
The first of two top ten prospects on this breakdown is Choctaw’s [player_tooltip player_id="38673" first="Cade" last="McConnell"]. Not only is he very clearly one of the top offensive linemen in this junior class, he’s one of the top overall prospects as well. The Choctaw standout is just one part of a Yellowjacket offensive line that appears to be one of the more talented units in the state. They have multiple prospects on the 2022 and 20223 list and it appears that they’ll be good for quite some time. McConnell is without a doubt the best of the bunch and sets the tone along the line of scrimmage. He also plans on narrowing down his recruitment soon as he’s picked up offers from all over the country.
[player_tooltip player_id="38683" first="Cash" last="Hudson"] - Bishop Kelley (Ranked #31 Overall)
Bishop Kelley is always in the mix in 5A football but they routinely don’t have the biggest athletes. Well, that’s a little different for now as they have one of the more physically dominant offensive linemen in 5A football. [player_tooltip player_id="38683" first="Cash" last="Hudson"] has the chance to be one of the best at his position in recent memory at Bishop Kelley. The Comet coaching staff knows that Hudson has the tools to be a serious force along the offensive line. Hudson is primarily playing at center for the Comets and that’s right where he’ll stay at the next level. As of right now, he looks like a potential Power 5 guy at that position.
[player_tooltip player_id="38666" first="Jacob" last="Sexton"] - Deer Creek (Ranked #1 Overall)
He’s the top overall prospect in the 2022 class, Deer Creek’s [player_tooltip player_id="38666" first="Jacob" last="Sexton"] has established himself as the top guy in this class. At this point, he seems like a lock to become an All American. He recently announced his top five schools and they’re Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas A&M. Sexton appears to be an absolute lock to become a big time prospect at the next level. He’s the latest "can’t miss" tackle prospect to come out of Oklahoma. Recently we’ve had Broken Arrow’s Andrew Raym and Westmoore’s Brey Walker. And with a strong wrestling background, Sexton could be the best of the bunch.
[player_tooltip player_id="61128" first="Lane" last="Parks"] - Yukon (Ranked #18 Overall)
In our ATHLETE BREAKDOWN, we wrote about Yukon quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38714" first="Brayden" last="Dutton"] and how he would be an intriguing prospect to watch with Yukon hiring a new head coach. The question of whether Yukon will still run the flexbone offense makes Dutton one to watch. On the other side, offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="61128" first="Lane" last="Parks"] is going to be a top prospect, regardless of whether they run the flexbone or not. Parks is a powerful lineman and it doesn’t matter if they run a more traditional offense or the flexbone, Parks is going to be dominant. In our recent ranking update, he jumped up into the top 20 after a strong junior season.
