Some of the top 2022 and 2023 players around the state can’t wait to get back on the field in late August to once again show their skills and earn more college offers.
Many teams won’t hold a jamboree, or spring game, likely until August just before the 2021 season begins. Even though there may not be football for months to come, these players below are already climbing up the charts.
Jaeden Jackson (2023) | 6-3 DT| G.W. Long HS
Jackson is a different force on the Rebels’ defensive front. His explosiveness off the line of scrimmage has him in the backfield taking down the ball carrier in just a matter of seconds.
The rising junior has quick feet at his position and can play both sides of the ball. His stock will certainly continue to rise once the 2021 season begins. He is receiving interest from major programs across the country.
He has a lot of upside potential and is dominant at catching the ball carrier on the backside and eliminating big chunk plays on crucial downs.
Emmanuel Henderson (2022) | 6-1 RB | Geneva County HS
Henderson is one of the top rated players in the state of Alabama for the class of 2022. He had a dominant season in 2020, and entering his senior year, could have another one. At 6 foot 1, the senior has quality strength at his size when running the ball. He is a tremendous north-south runner, but can also power his way through defenders to gain extra yards.
Henderson has a ton of offers from schools all across the country, and rightfully so. He also plays defense as an outside linebacker and strong safety, but running back is his primary position.
Quinshon Judkins (2022) | 6-0 RB | Pike Road HS
Judkins is a solid running back that can take any handoff and make positive yards out of it. Entering his senior year in 2021, he has become one of the best running backs in the state of Alabama.
He has terrific field vision and can force defenders into a frenzy when trying to bring him down. His 6 foot 201 pound size frame gives him the ability to power through any would be tackle and continue his run.
Robert Woodyard (2022) | 6-2 ILB| Williamson HS
Woodyard has been a star for Williamson High School in Mobile. The inside linebacker is great at reading what the opposing offense is going to do on the next play. When the ball carrier is near him, Woodyard can tackle at any point on the field and rarely gives up an open pass.
He is an Alabama commit, but still has one season of high school football left. Woodyard is definitely a player to watch in 2021 in the Mobile area.
Laquon Robinson (2022) | 6-2 S | Greenville HS
Robinson has a knack for intercepting passes. In deep coverage, he is one of the best in the state at defending passes and getting his team a turnover when he has the chance.
He thrives on hawking down a would be rece(20ption and making sure the opposing receiver has a tough time hauling in the catch.
James Smith (2023) | 6-3 DT | Carver HS
Smith has battled his way into becoming one of the top players in the country for 2023. At 6 foot 3, 250 pounds, the incoming junior is a dominant force on the defensive front.
He can get into the backfield with ease and has great footwork to move his way around offensive linemen. His field vision is spotting where the ball is going is second to none. Smith is one key player to keep an eye on in the Montgomery area this upcoming season.
Byron Burks (2022) | 5-10 CB | Elba HS
Burks is a dominant cornerback even at 5 foot 10. He can force opposing teams to look elsewhere to get a completion. The senior is great at forcing his receiver to battle for a catch.
When he isn’t in coverage, Burks can hawk down opposing ball carriers from the backside and get a tackle. He has great speed and can help teammates take down whichever player has the ball.
Raymon Blackmon (2023) | 5-8 WR | New Dothan
Blackmon may only be entering his junior year, but the 2023 receiver is also starting to turn heads. In open space, he can haul in a catch and make defenders miss to gain extra yards. His blocking skills are great and he is dominant in opening up holes for his running back and fellow receivers.
In due time, Blackmon could have offers swirling in if he conitnues the momentum in 2021.
Lucas Atkins (2023) | 5-10 OL | Dale County HS
Atkins just finished up his sophomore season, but has become one of the best offensive linemen for the Warriors. He is a phenomenal center that is great at getting the snap off perfectly to his quarterback.
But in pressure, Atkins doesn’t fold. Instead, he keeps defensive linemen in check and makes sure his quarterback has enough time in the pocket. As he progresses through his final two years. Atkins could become one of the best offensive linemen in the state.
TJ Dudley (2022) | 6-1 OLB | Montgomery Catholic
Dudley is ranked as the seventh best player in the state of Alabama, and with good reason. The incoming senior outside linebacker is the best at his position.
He can track down the ball carrier for an easy open field tackle. But Dudley is also great at dropping into coverage off a blitz and forcing the quarterback to scramble out of the pocket to make a quick tackle. When in coverage, Dudley is at the top of his game in breaking up passes and forcing ball carriers to the outside.
