As 2020 came to a close, so did the 2020 high school football season in the state of Georgia. For many 2021 prospects, this was their last time playing football, and for others, this is just the beginning of their next steps at the next level. Lucky for us football fans, there is already a very talented upcoming senior class of 2022 football prospects in the state of Georgia, who’s talent has already been brewing for 3 years. These players will spend all off season preparing for their senior year, and some of these big name players will also narrow down their decision of where they will be playing football at the next level. Below, we have listed a few upcoming seniors who we are very excited to watch this upcoming season.
[player_tooltip player_id="33866" first="Mykel" last="Williams"] (DT)- Hardaway High
Williams, one of the bigger name DT prospects in the state, displayed clear dominance within his junior year, which was to be expected due to how highly touted he was going into this season. He terrorized QB’s and offensive linemen all season, using his quick burst and get-off when rushing the passer. His quick feet, and hands made it almost impossible for defenders to stop him, and it is evident that any pass rush move he wants to try, will garner him a high level of success in getting to the ball carrier, or QB. With this, he also has a bit of a pop to him, and explosion when he makes contact, making him very fun to watch. Due to the fact that he is being highly sought, we are very excited for his senior season, and any recruiting decisions that he may make in the near future.
[player_tooltip player_id="33871" first="Malaki" last="Starks"] (DB/RB)- Jefferson High
What’s not to like about Starks junior season? He managed to do everything we expected him to do, that resembled what he accomplished during his sophomore year, while also making strides in development. Starks is a unique running talent, in which he holds the ability to use his speed, feet, and short area quickness together, to make plays regardless of how broken a play is. He is very elusive with the football in his hands, and his twitch is very deadly. He is very much one of the best prospects this class has to offer. He can run the ball from under center, in a wildcat formation, and can take hand-offs as well. With this, Starks has also shown that he has the ability to cover at an elite level too, due to his ability to chance direction quickly. Look for Starks to have another successful season going into his senior year, and expect him to make a key decision in where he will play at the next level too. All of this should have fans excited.
[player_tooltip player_id="33868" first="Addison" last="Nichols"] (OL)- Greater Atlanta Christian
[player_tooltip player_id="33868" first="Addison" last="Nichols"], who has been a dominant force on the OL, just completed another strong season. One of the most attractive features to his game is his ability to finish blocks, while maintaining a great base, with clean feet. He adjusts well to various pass rush moves, and uses his size efficiently in pass protection. While he can be caught leaning at times, we do not feel he does it to the point in which it is extremely detrimental. His quickness in his footwork makes up for this, and can get the job done regardless. Because of his playing style, and ideal size and frame, we expect him to make a splash at the next level. Due to this, we are very excited for his senior year, and his decision in where he will play football next.
[player_tooltip player_id="33870" first="Jamie" last="Felix"] (RB)- Camden County
Down in South Georgia, at Camden County High School, [player_tooltip player_id="33870" first="Jamie" last="Felix"] has had a high level of success for his team. During the 2020 season, he showed improvements in his ability to run the football fluidly, and can still be seen to run with a sense of awareness and patience. Because of this, and his ability to have quick feet, he can be seen to make big plays for his offense, picking up positive yards regardless of the situation. With this, he also has a great burst and speed, that allows him to separate himself from defenders, and knife his way through the second level. Felix also made his presence known on defense this year, making key stops for his team when they needed it the most. All in all, because of this, Felix can be seen to be a team player, and a huge asset to his team. Look for him to narrow down his decision of where he’ll play at the next level. This will make his senior year even more fun to watch.
