Northern Arizona is by far the most slept on region in Arizona when it comes to recruiting. There are some legit gems up north, and all they need is one shot. Some of the toughest, grittiest kids in the state are still looking for a place to ball. Take a look at 6 talented Northern AZ players that remain unsigned: [player_tooltip player_id="42668" first="Luis" last="Jaramillo"], RB, 5’10" 205lbs, Flagstaff HS Jaramillo has a solid north-south type foundation and does a great job of getting upfield quick on edge runs. He is explosive through the hole and and shows good physicality. Jaramillo has a solid football IQ and field awareness by fighting for extra yards to pick up 1st downs. He displayed good ball security and is a workhorse back that can wear down a defense and was effective between the tackles and on the edges. He possesses enough second level speed for big play ability, but does his best work as a downhill, physical runner. He recently racked up a juco offer from Salt River, and holds numerous NAIA offers. [player_tooltip player_id="42722" first="Zachary" last="Bennett"], 5’8" 180lbs, RB, Coconino HS He hits the hole with speed and aggression and keeps a solid pad level. He has breakaway speed and is a major big play threat. He hits top speed quickly and shows excellent lateral speed and agility. He possesses both speed and physicality and does a good job distinguishing whether to put his shoulder down or put a move on someone to make them miss. Bennett has excellent balance which help his big play ability, as he often bounced of non-wrapping tackles and sprung free into the open field for big plays. He was frequently game planned for, yet still produced week by week. He has been racking up a plethora of NAIA offers as of late. Nate Wright, ATH, 6’0" 180lbs, Prescott HS Wright holds massive position versatility and potential. As a RB, he has a good eye for the hole and accelerates through the hole with solid physicality at the point of contact. He possesses good second level speed for big play ability and can make defenders miss in open space. Wright can catch the ball out of the backfield, or line up as a receiver and run crisp routes with coordination. He has shown to be effective as a blocker in both the run and pass game as well. On defense, he roamed the field at LB, FS, and SS and shows a quick reaction with good instincts. He is very strong at the POA with a good striking ability and closes well on opponents. Statistically, Wright was in the top 10 in 4A in rushing yards, tackles, and overall scoring. No notable offers yet. [player_tooltip player_id="42768" first="Jonathan" last="Justice"], DE, 6’5" 225lbs, Lake Havasu HS Justice established himself as a lethal pass rusher. He has excellent length and reach, and does a good job utilizing it to make plays. He covers ground well, as he can make plays from sideline to sideline at DE. He’s an effective tackler overall and shows good play recognition He does his best work as an edge rusher, as he brings it with a quick initial get off and excellent athleticism to get around OT’s. His potential is off the charts and projects as a multi year starter wherever he ends up. He was recently offered by Salt River (juco), and holds numerous D3 and NAIA offers. [player_tooltip player_id="93178" first="Terren" last="Green"], LB/RB, 5’11" 180lbs, Snowflake HS As a ball carrier, Green shows an aggressive north-south style with excellent physicality at the point of contact. He does a great job of bouncing off non-wrapping tackles while keeping his momentum forward for solid chunks of yards. At LB, he shows excellent reaction and closes very well on ball carriers. Green fills alleys exceptionally well and is a fundamental tackler with a solid striking ability and is very strong at the POA. He has solid range and pursuit at LB as well. He looks athletic and coordinated when dropping into coverage and showed a good understanding of zone responsibilities. He would fit best at LB at the next level, and the state champ was 4th in the entire state, 1st in 3A with 121 tackles, and does not hold an offer. Luke McCauslin, ATH, 6'0" 190lbs, Prescott HS McCauslin has solid position versatility on the defensive side of the ball. Excellent athleticism all around, and can play FS, SS, line up in the box and play LB, or serve as a lethal edge rusher. He shows a good understanding of zone concepts and closes well as a tackler. He has a quick initial get off as an edge rusher with good short area quickness and flexibility. Tough kid all around, and does not hold an offer as of yet. He would be a solid NAIA-D2 level prospect to look at.
