There were tons of programs affected across the country by COVID-19 and many Missouri high schools were hit hard. But other schools were able to persevere and players on those squads took their games to the next level. Here are three RBs who jumped up big time from the preseason to post-season rankings.
RB [player_tooltip player_id="37188" first="Amar" last="Johnson"], Chaminade College Prep (From No. 35 to No. 17 overall, No. 5 RB to No. 3)
Heading into the 2020 season, much was expected of the star senior. But Johnson used the offseason to get stronger and more explosive. Johnson was a multiple week MVP here at Prep Redzone as well as all-St. Louis post season. Whatever college ends up with the speedster is gaining a dynamic playmaker.
RB [player_tooltip player_id="37222" first="Christopher" last="Kreh"], Marquette (From No. 69 to No. 41 overall, No. 10 RB to No. 7)
Kreh is a coaches’ dream and one of the toughest football players in the state. The Marquette workhorse never had an issue with the amounts of carries per game and actually got stronger as the contest wore on. Headed off to play for Missouri, do not be surprised to here Kreh’s name playing valuable minutes for the Tigers in the future.
RB [player_tooltip player_id="95955" first="Philip" last="Fager"], Raymore-Peculiar (From unranked to No. 52 in the state, No. 8 RB)
The rise of the Ray-Pec season culminating in a state crown was due to an explosive offense and the running of Fager. The hard-charging rusher used power, balance and toughness to rush for 1000 yards and 20-plus scores. Still undecided for college football, Fager will be a major get for a college program.
