Receivers/TE’s
- We could easily start this group talking about two four-star talents in attendance but instead we will start with the biggest surprise of all receivers at the combine in ‘22 BGA (TN) wideout Daniel Morra.
The Nashville native had an absolute beast of a day as he was consistent from start to finish. Morra tested very well, displaying his overall natural athleticism and taking direction very well. The Wildcats rising senior also performed quite well during 1 on 1 competition, showing off his route running, ability to create separation and overall speed. A big offseason for Morra could land him on several recruiting radars.
- Everybody by now knows about ‘22 Boyd Buchanan (TE) [player_tooltip player_id="101993" first="Karson" last="Gay"] and he yet again showed at camp on Sunday why he is considered a national level recruit. Tall, long and athletic, Gay has a knack for getting open and coming up with the big play.
- Probably one of the quickest, most elusive playmakers at receiver in Pearl Cohn (TN) wideout [player_tooltip player_id="101984" first="Barion" last="Brown"] traveled down to the Boro on Sunday and did what Barion does and that’s standout as a bonafide elite talent ahead of everyone else. The Firebirds star receiver honestly reminds me a lot of Heisman winner DeVonte Smith with his sudden movements, especially off the line and the ability to make just about every catch thrown his way.
- ‘23 Ensworth (WR) [player_tooltip player_id="102301" first="Shamar" last="Porter"] screams potential and Power Five size the moment he steps on the field and backs it up when you see him break into routes and into open space. He covers a lot of ground with his big radius and long strides while being a threat to catch the ball anytime it’s in his vicinity. Porter could be a 5-star prospect with more development and more eyes looking his way.
- Two rising senior receivers many college coaches around the country need to know and learn about are Shelbyville (WR) [player_tooltip player_id="102138" first="Gavin" last="Donegan"] and CPA (WR/S) [player_tooltip player_id="102070" first="Reid" last="Williford"]. Both guys present different traits to the position as Donegan is your speedster with outstanding feet and sudden movements while Williford has the big body and strong hands to keep defenders at bay while being that consistent pass catcher. Both show D1 traits, so it’s just all about putting their games all together and provided with the opportunity.
Top Performers: [player_tooltip player_id="101993" first="Karson" last="Gay"], Daniel Morra, [player_tooltip player_id="102301" first="Shamar" last="Porter"], [player_tooltip player_id="102192" first="Max" last="Carroll"] (Briarcrest - ‘23), [player_tooltip player_id="102098" first="Ben" last="Coggin"] (Nolensville - ‘23), Coleman Baker (Lipscomb Acad. - ‘22), [player_tooltip player_id="102138" first="Gavin" last="Donegan"], Jordan Pendleton (Lausanne - ‘22), [player_tooltip player_id="102166" first="McKeon" last="Whitsett"] (Franklin Co. - ‘22), [player_tooltip player_id="102070" first="Reid" last="Williford"]
Offensive Line
- Star power was in attendance, so the conversation with the offensive has to start with 2022 power five tackles [player_tooltip player_id="101974" first="Fisher" last="Anderson"] from Franklin and [player_tooltip player_id="101991" first="Jacob" last="Hood"] from Hillsboro. Two massive human beings with high upside had shining moments throughout the day, especially Anderson during 1 on 1 competition.
Holding offers from the likes of Arizona St, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn St, Tennessee, Va Tech and more, Anderson has an athletic, agile lower body that college coaches love at tackle along with a wide upper body that can take added weight. Skies the limit for Anderson!
Hood has had two strong performances thus far in #NCEC combines (attended Atlanta camp several weeks ago) showing better lower body mobility and attention to detail. The Nashville native keeps getting better and better each time he steps on the field.
- 2023 Mars Hill (AL) O-lineman Koby Keenum came up to Nashville to perform in front of his peers and top talent from outside his region and the big man more than handled himself, he had dominating moments. Keenum is a well built young man with power all throughout his body, so when a defender tried to body up to him, the Yellowhammer State lineman threw them around. Keenum also showed solid athleticism, so he very well could stay out at tackle or at worse slide inside to guard. This is a talent to keep an eye on!
- The interior of the offensive line was well represented on Sunday with several high quality guys with college futures. Among the guys with current offers, Fayetteville (OG) [player_tooltip player_id="102049" first="Gus" last="Hill"] and Page (OG) [player_tooltip player_id="102078" first="Owen" last="Sacks"] were consistent and rock solid all day while up and comers like Peabody (OT/G) [player_tooltip player_id="102063" first="Connor" last="Meadows"], Meigs Co. (OG/C) Austin Andrews and Pearl (MS) OG/C Connor Foy showed flashes of college abilities. All of these guys are worth an investigation as they sport the size and college upside you want and look for.
- Can’t forget to mention these two guys in 2023 Franklin Road Acad. (TN) OT/G [player_tooltip player_id="102206" first="Joe" last="Crocker"] or 2022 CPA (TN) OT/G [player_tooltip player_id="102061" first="Evan" last="Carney"]. Both of these linemen show high upside to not only play Division 1 ball but also Power Five. Crocker himself already holds offers from the likes of Kentucky and Mississippi St.
Top Performers: [player_tooltip player_id="101974" first="Fisher" last="Anderson"], [player_tooltip player_id="101991" first="Jacob" last="Hood"], Koby Keenum, [player_tooltip player_id="102061" first="Evan" last="Carney"], [player_tooltip player_id="102063" first="Connor" last="Meadows"], Jett Martinez (JP2 - 2023), [player_tooltip player_id="102231" first="Eli" last="Freeman"] (Lebanon - 2023), [player_tooltip player_id="102078" first="Owen" last="Sacks"], [player_tooltip player_id="102049" first="Gus" last="Hill"], Connor Foy, [player_tooltip player_id="102206" first="Joe" last="Crocker"]
