It had been nearly two decades since Florida and Georgia squared off properly on the football field.
On Sunday evening at the legendary Traz Powell Stadium in Miami, the game that many felt would be the spark to continue this once competitive was competitive from start to finish.
While Georgia won this game 26-10 on two very late interception returns for touchdowns, this was competitive and entertaining, and it was the perfect way for this game to make its return.
“The objective from the beginning was to get the Florida and Georgia rivalry that we knew and grew up with back on track,” said Team Florida’s Faheem Ali. “This is a FREE game for these young men – and from and outstanding hotel and food to top-flight practices, uniforms, gear and a first class experience.”
It was indeed a tremendous four days for the players from both teams – as they met new friends and relationships that will certainly last a lifetime.
COMPETITIVE GAME ALL THE WAY
Even though the score doesn’t indicate it, this was a really impressive game – and a tight one throughout.
Plays made on both sides of the field, but when it was all over, Team Georgia won the renewal – and players and coaches are already making plans to be a part of next year’s game and combine.
