The Top 5 for the class of 2022 has shuffled around a bit after this past season, as there are three new players that moved in with this latest update. Here are the top juniors in Kansas.
No. 1: [player_tooltip player_id="35540" first="Dasan" last="McCullough"] – Blue Valley North, 6’5”, 220, S
The future Ohio State Buckeye maintained his No. 1 rank throughout this past season. He proved he was the best player in the state by racking up over 75 tackles, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and six pass break ups. He’s a player that you can put anywhere in the secondary, and in the box as a hybrid linebacker. He’ll look to finish the 2021 season at No. 1 yet again.
No. 2: [player_tooltip player_id="89200" first="Mekhi" last="Miller"] – Blue Valley North, 6’1”, 185, WR
Miller joins his fellow Mustang teammate in the Top 5 with this update. He was already a notable player, but he definitely made himself stick out in 2020. Miller hauled in 93 catches and racked up 1,065 yards with 14 receiving touchdowns. He’s a dynamic play-maker that can line up in the slot or out wide. He’s even capable of taking hand offs out of the backfield. Miller’s play will continue to draw DI interest.
No. 3: [player_tooltip player_id="35558" first="Caden" last="Crawford"] – Lansing, 6’5”, 240, LB
The No.1 linebacker in the state climbed his way into the Top 5 with his play this past season. Crawford was the leader for the Lion’s defense, as he piled up 78 total tackles, 18 being for a loss, five forced fumbles and four sacks. He can seal the edge when defending the run, and he has the athleticism to catch ball carries. The highly recruited linebacker will look to have another strong season in 2021.
No. 4: [player_tooltip player_id="35542" first="Jalen" last="Marshall"] – St. Thomas Aquinas, 6’5”, 270, DL
Marshall’s consistent play kept him inside the Top 5. He is a force on the defensive-line. Marshall’s presence demands a double team, and coaches have to draw up game-plans to slow him down. His huge frame and strength allow him to bust through offensive-lines, and he has the versatility to line up as a 3 or 5 technique. The DI prospect will be poised for a dominate senior campaign.
No. 5: [player_tooltip player_id="91371" first="Jaren" last="Kanak"] – Hays, 6’2”, 210, ATH
Kanak is the third player that made his way into the Top 5 after an impressive junior year. The Indians only played six games in 2020, but Kanak made an impact when the ball was in his hands. He amassed 842 all-purpose yards with 10 total touchdowns. He can be plugged in at multiple positions on offense because of his skills as a pass catcher and runner, and he has the speed to make big plays.
