Class of 2023: RB in 5A and 6A

There are plenty of talented RB in the classes of 5A and 6A in Kansas in the class of 2023.  With the top 2 players in the state for the class and 5 of those RB in the top 62, there will be several Junior RB that will have an impact during the 2021 season. [player_tooltip player_id="87649" first="Dylan" last="Edwards"] 5’8 155 Derby [player_tooltip player_id="87649" first="Dylan" last="Edwards"] is the #1 RB and the #1 ranked player in the state for the class of ’23.  He rushed for 1,833 yards on 206 carries and scored 25 TD while catching 16 passes for 204 yards and 2 TD.  He shows great vision as he finds the open hole and is very difficult to stop once he is in the open field due to his excellent athletic ability and play speed. An outstanding blocker who scans the defense for the blitzing defender showing tremendous heart as he uses his leverage as well as his hands to maintain his block against larger LB and DB and uses his very good physical toughness as he is able to finish blocks to the ground. [player_tooltip player_id="35641" first="John" last="Randle"] 6’0 170 Wichita Heights [player_tooltip player_id="35641" first="John" last="Randle"] is the 2nd ranked player in the state and the #2 ranked player overall for the class of ’23.  In ’20, he rushed for 1009 yards on 102 carries and scored 17 TD.  He had 7 games where he rushed for at least 100 yards. He also caught 5 passes for 57 yards.  He displays very good vision and decision making as he quickly finds the open hole and uses his quickness to bend it back or bounce it to the outside.  He shows good burst through the hole and accelerates to top speed quickly as he shows very good play speed outrunning DB for long gains. [player_tooltip player_id="35648" first="Roman" last="Chandler"] 5’9 170 Maize [player_tooltip player_id="35648" first="Roman" last="Chandler"] is the 3rd ranked RB and the 15th ranked player in the state for the class of ’23.  He displays good patience as he waits for the block to be set up and hits the hole with a full head of steam displaying good contact balance as he can break tackles from DB and LB.  After he breaks into the secondary, he uses his very good elusiveness to avoid LB and uses his play speed to outrun DB for large gains.  He is a very tough player who is not afraid to lower his shoulder into larger defenders as he falls forward for a few extra yards. Sean Latendresse 5’8 140 Seaman Sean Latendresse is the 63rd ranked player in the state for the class of 2023.  He shows very good quickness as he gets to the outside and turns the corner with good burst and displays very good toughness as he runs behind his pads while lowering his shoulder into a LB falling forward for a first down.  He displays very good competitive toughness as he is very reliable in the red zone where his play improves. [player_tooltip player_id="35681" first="Tre" last="Richardson"] 5’9 160 Highland Park The play of [player_tooltip player_id="35681" first="Tre" last="Richardson"] was a bright spot in the 2020 season for Highland Park.  Tre has a great chance of being a playmaker in the running and passing game every time that he has the ball in his hands.  When running the ball, he uses his athletic ability and play speed in the open field to elude DB and LB but also possesses good contact balance and play strength to break tackles.  He also lines up in the slot on passing plays and uses his football intelligence to read the coverage, hip fluidity and play speed to separate from the DB, breaks off his stem and possesses very good manual dexterity as he is able to make catches that are thrown well above his head.  After the catch, he accelerates to top speed quickly and runs for large gains.
