There is no getting around the fact that for decades, when colleges and universities were searching for offensive linemen, Florida was NOT the first choice. Midwest, Northeast and many areas in the south long produced these big, agile line prospects who would provide protection – while paving the way for a running game. But times started to change – and Florida is now producing big-time linemen who are impacting colleges and the NFL. Athletic, big and very gifted football players are being taught younger than ever, and the opportunities to improve have increased each and every year. Today, we have some quality offensive linemen who are getting their recognition – and being recruited by schools all over the country. The Class of 2022 certainly reflects how good these linemen have become – and here are four all of them will have a chance to showcase their talents: [player_tooltip player_id="49984" first="Tyler" last="Booker"], OT, 6-4, 315, Bradenton IMG Academy. After watching this impressive talent perform a year ago, there is so much to look forward to in 2021. From the opening game against Venice to the seven other wins this team had, this is someone who matured, played hard and showed that his senior season would be very special. A big, strong football player who picks things up fast. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11263059/Tyler-Booker [player_tooltip player_id="50050" first="Austin" last="Firestone"], OT, 6-5, 260, Niceville. The first thing you look at when evaluating a lineman is athleticism. Here is one of the most athletic big men in Florida for the 2021 season. He is quick, strong and with a basketball background, he has shown that he is agile and talented enough to pass block and pave the way for the Eagles’ running game. Very solid football talent who will get bigger and stronger in the coming months. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11330704/Austin-Firestone [player_tooltip player_id="50034" first="Jeremiah" last="Jackson"], OG, 6-4, 275, Lakeland Kathleen. Here is a versatile and talented prospect that we talked about earlier this year, but after a season that watched him get bigger, quicker and stronger, he is now considered one of the best in the state for this class. Whether he lines up on offense or defensive tackle, this is someone who dominates and makes life tough on the opponent. While colleges have been watching, others need to get on board with this impressive prospect. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/12705369/Jeremiah-Jackson [player_tooltip player_id="50246" first="Elijah" last="Miller"], OG/OT, 6-3, 315, Miami Central. Because the two-time defending 6A state champion Rockets had so much line talent this past season, a prospect like this didn’t get the spotlight he truly deserves. But that all changes this year. You can watch all the film on someone like this – but until you watch him perform play-after-play, and see all the things that he does to make himself better, it is really hard to evaluate someone like. He is quick, strong and athletic – and has picked up the many things taught by this quality coaching staff. Keep your eye on his progress. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11298869/Elijah-Miller [player_tooltip player_id="50250" first="Ja’Quan" last="Samuel"], OG, 6-4, 280, Tallahassee Godby. Talk about a versatile and athletic line prospect. We watched him play as a sophomore – and then caught back up with him this season – and what he has developed into is a gifted lineman who can play left tackle or left guard and more than hold his own. The coaching staff talked about him two years ago, and with offers such as Butch Davis and FIU, he will have the opportunity to showcase his skills for years to come. Still learning about the game and the position. TAPE: https://www.hudl.com/profile/12689022/Jaquan-Samuel You Can Contact Larry Blustein with prospect or team information at: Foridakids1@aol.com.
