When head coach Matt Dubuc and his Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs won the 5A state title in 2018, many were not buying into this being a yearly thing.
For those doubters who may not understand what Dubuc and his alma mater are doing, it may be wise to understand that while beating St. Thomas Aquinas is rare, it did serve as a springboard to a 4A state championship win over Jacksonville Bolles.

It’s the only way you assemble a veteran coaching staff and garner plenty of support – from the alumni and administration, along with the student body.
What is happening is this now a program. Not some team that will pop up and then go away for years. After beating North Marion to win the 5A state title two years ago, the Chiefs dropped a tough game to eventual state champion Booker T. Washington.
As this program looks head to the 2021 season, there is an understanding that some big holes will need to be filled – on both sides of the ball – but that is something that this team feels very confident about.
With the recent addition of Delray American Heritage quarterback Dylan Rizk, regarded as one of the best young prospects in Florida.
The Class of 2023 also boasts other offensive standouts Adonis Allen, (WR/DB), Jesse Anderson (WR), Trey Dubuc (LS), Jayvyn Early (RB), state-rated Arthur Jenkins (WR), Aushawn Lewis emerging running backs Torrence Miller and Kamari Moulton and quarterback Patrick Stepelton.
The Class of 2022 seniors are also going to be the glue that keeps this program together and moving forward. Defensive prospects such as linebacker Riley Bowe, defensive end Greg Otten and state-rated kicking specialist Chris Silverstein, PK/P
MAJOR TALENT FOR 2022
There were many reason why this team finished 9-1 and as state champions last month in Tallahassee. This current junior class (2022) is stacked with experienced difference makers – like linebackers [player_tooltip player_id="50046" first="Tray" last="Brown"] and Danny Feliciano, defensive backs Isaiah Farris and Robert Green, and defensive linemen Damon Jackson, Jose Olivier and impressive Mason Thomas.
On offense, one of the best in the state, [player_tooltip player_id="50233" first="Jackson" last="Crozier"], is back – along with Gabe Espineira.
Speedy [player_tooltip player_id="50195" first="Davon" last="Kiser"] and gifted Elisha Edwards are quality receivers. Highly-regarded quarterback Blake Kendall Jr. will battle and make this a better program.
As a few more faces could emerge in the coming months, having some freshmen (Class of 2024) like defensive ends Christopher Williams and Jackson Klein, and offensive lineman Daniel Mincey.
