The state of Georgia is always known as one of the best in producing Power 5 running backs and there are plenty of young backs across the state who are looking to have their breakout season in 2021.
The class is led by Blessed Trinity star running back [player_tooltip player_id="34011" first="Justice" last="Haynes"] who is arguably the top overall running back in the entire state. Haynes rushed for close to 1,600 yards in a shortened season and found the end-zone 22 times. He’s easily the leader of the pack in 2023, but there are a few others looking to make their mark and see their recruitment take off after a big season this fall.
Jamarion Wilcox - South Paulding
An unknown running back to know in west Georgia, Wilcox is coming off an impressive sophomore season where he rushed 80 times for 526 yards and 3 touchdowns. He split carries all season with a senior and should be the lead rusher for the Spartans in 2021. Expectations couldn’t be higher for Wilcox after winning MVP of the Ga Elite game and going to the USA National Combine in Texas later on. He showed a very physical running style last year as a sophomore with good vision and the ability to make people miss. He’ll be playing with another up and coming player in QB 2023 QB Kasen Weisman and will be running behind elite 2023 OT [player_tooltip player_id="34022" first="Madden" last="Sanker"]. Look for Wilcox to have a breakout junior season in the fall.

The tackle-breaking machine from South Georgia has high expectations in 2021 after a big sophomore season where he ran for 730 yards and 8 TDs. Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id="33830" first="Ronnie" last="Baker"] led the team in rushing last year so they’ll have a new leading rusher this season, and that should be Fulton. He totaled 826 total yards in 12 games as a sophomore so if he’s certainly a candidate who could really break out. He’s strong, has good balance, and proved that he can break off a long run. This offseason will be important, and if he can continue to work on his body and take the next step in his development, he could his recruitment take off down the road.
[player_tooltip player_id="34019" first="David" last="Mbadinga"] - Kell
It was a shortened season for the Cobb County native in 2020 as he only played in five games, but he made them all count as he was able to rack up 485 yards and 6 TDs. He was coming off an outstanding freshman season and showed he can play with the big boys in the region as an underclassman. The quick 5-foot-8 185-pounder plays bigger than his size and has some deceptive strength to go with his impressive burst and big-play ability. He holds two offers from Michigan State and Kansas State, but he could see a good bit more come his way with a big 2021 season.
