2022 Rankings: Breaking Down The Lowcountry (Part 5)

The Lowcountry zone of South Carolina offered up 12 top-100 players in the Class of 2022 rankings. But that was just the beginning. In total, more than 30 prep standouts from that section of the state dotted our list for the classification. In this six-part series, we’re going to break down every single one of them. If you’ve got a need, we’re here to tell you how to fill it. Every position is represented, often two or three times over (if not more). This is your recruiting road map to the Lowcountry for the Class of 2022. [player_tooltip player_id="59486" first="Jacob" last="Ashley"] SCHOOL: Oceanside Collegiate POSITION: Offensive lineman ANALYSIS: The 6-foot-6 tackle has already started for two seasons and put up an eye-popping 95-percent grade as a junior - all while making it look surprisingly easy. [player_tooltip player_id="59491" first="Caleb" last="Edwards"] SCHOOL: West Ashley POSITION: Linebacker ANALYSIS: It took Edwards just seven games to pile up more than 100 tackles (using the solo/assist tabulation) and also put up a pair of sacks and an interception. [player_tooltip player_id="91172" first="Hiram" last="Steady Jr."] SCHOOL: Calhoun County POSITION: Defensive line ANALYSIS: The only part of Steady’s game that we’re unsure of is whether or not he projects better along the defensive or offensive line. He’s got a 6-foot-4 frame that could go either way. [player_tooltip player_id="91177" first="Evander" last="Jones"] SCHOOL: North Charleston<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> POSITION: Defensive line ANALYSIS: Jones and his 6-foot-5 frame are going to make some college very, very happy. He’s already perfected a great swim technique to get through blocks. [player_tooltip player_id="89312" first="Jahleel" last="Porter"], RB, WEST ASHLEY SCHOOL: West Ashley POSITION: Running back ANALYSIS: Want impact? Porter’s your guy. In seven games as a junior, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound tailback went for 1,219 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>
