Once the college football season is completely over, coaches can finally take a step back and focus some on recruiting. Every January, coaches start going over high school film and start to extend offers for next year’s class. Even during a pandemic, this year is no different as rising seniors across the peach state continue to reel in major offers from some of the nation’s top programs.
One of the top running backs in the entire state is Woodward Academy’s [player_tooltip player_id="95160" first="Damari" last="Alston"]. The four-star already holds offers from schools like Alabama and Florida, and this week earned another offer this week from Kentucky.

A possible 5-star in the 2022 class, Hardaway defensive end [player_tooltip player_id="33866" first="Mykel" last="Williams"], can choose from just about any program in the country. As a junior, Williams recorded 69 tackles, 19 TFLs, 27 QB hurries, 3 forced fumbles, and a staggering 17 sacks in just 11 games. He holds offers from Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, among others, and this week he earned an offer from Oregon.

The 2022 class in Georgia is the deepest across the county, and a new one is emerging in South Georgia with Lee County’s [player_tooltip player_id="33958" first="Tyrus" last="Washington"]. The 6-foot-4 230-pounder is coming off a great junior season and was offered by Tennessee this week. It won’t be his last offer and more are expected to come in the near future.

At North Cobb High school in Kennesaw is where you’ll fins one of the top junior linebackers in metro-Atlanta in Joshua Josephs. The 6-foot-2 210-pounder recorded 107 tackles to go along with 17 QB pressures and 4 INTs. He holds offers Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Arizona State, and this week he earned an offer from South Carolina.

Pace Academy (GA) QB MJ Morris is one of the top dual-threat QBs in the country for the 2022 class and brings a unique skillset to the position. He’s held top offers for over a year now and has earned another this week from Kentucky.

In South Georgia, a new linebacker prospect to know is Fitzgerald junior EJ Lightsey. The 6-foot-2 210-pounder is seeing his recruitment take off after leading a strong Purple Hurricanes defense to a deep playoff run and a 14-1 record. The tape is out and the offers are about to roll in by the day. Lightsey earned an offer this week from the Florida Gators and it certainly won’t be his last.

Another 2022 defensive back to keep an eye on is Buford defender [player_tooltip player_id="95467" first="Ryland" last="Gandy"]. The athletic 6-foot-0 160-pound cornerback helped lead the Wolves to another state championship. The current three-star held some smaller offers from Georgia Tech, Colorado, Indiana and more, but now some bigger programs are starting to call. Gandy picked up his biggest offer to date this past week from Notre Dame, and more could be coming very soon.

In West Georgia, one of the top running backs in the region is East Paulding’s [player_tooltip player_id="95168" first="Justin" last="Williams"]. The 6-foot-0 200-pounder is coming off a great junior season where he had 1,763 total yards and 19 total touchdowns. He’s a tackle-breaking machine with great size and big-play ability. His recruitment is very close to taking off and he picked up another offer this week from West Virginia. Williams also holds offers from Duke, Arkansas, Louisville, among others.
