While there are plenty of prospects at every position in Georgia’s 2021 class that will excel at the next level, one position group we are very excited about is the LB group. While [player_tooltip player_id="33651" first="Smael" last="Mondon"], and other big name prospects will certainly be successful, we also believe that this is a very deep group. Because of this, there were plenty of players who made a name for themselves during the 2020 season. Below, we listed a few of these players which you can check out and start to get excited about seeing at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="93972" first="Fernando" last="Sanchez"]- Grayson Sanchez performed at an all time high during his high school career during the 2020 season. As a senior, his stock continued to rise, and by the end of the season, he found himself a better LB than he was when the season began. Not only does he display a great frame as a high school linebacker, but he appears to be able to add on the necessary weight to play at the next level. When evaluating his film, he plays at a great pad level, and displays a great burst off of the ball. He also moves very well laterally. Due to this, Sanchez can be seen moving sideline to sideline, making key stops for his team. Along with this, he also has shown that he is not afraid of contact, and can come downhill violently as he stops opposing ball carriers. [player_tooltip player_id="93986" first="Ahmad" last="Walker"]- Warner Robins Walker, who is a Liberty Flames commit, had an outstanding 2020 season as well. His talent was on full display, showing why he may be a key factor for the Flames in the coming years. Walker has shown that he plays an aggressive style of football, displaying a huge pop when making contact with offensive players. With this, he has also shown that he has a great burst, and speed around the edge, allowing him to rush the passer efficiently in specific packages. Walker also shows that he is an athletic linebacker, who can drop in coverage as well, moving decently well laterally. Going into the next level of play, look for him to continue to develop in frame, as well as his ability to rush the passer efficiently. [player_tooltip player_id="93911" first="Thomas" last="Davis"]- Lowndes There is plenty to be excited about when evaluating [player_tooltip player_id="93911" first="Thomas" last="Davis"]’ talent, especially since he is committed to the Miami Hurricanes. Once you cut on his tape, it is overwhelmingly evident that he plays the game of football at a very fast speed. Not only does he move around well when stopping the run, but he also shows that he has the twitch and coverage ability to stick on receivers, and in zones when needed. With this, Thomas also shows that he is an aggressive player, who can make big time stops when needed, which is likely to be one of the reasons the Miami coaches are so attracted to his game. Look for him to continue to add on to his frame, and eventually be a key factor for the Hurricanes in the coming years. [player_tooltip player_id="93915" first="Cole" last="Bishop"]- Starr’s Mill When watching tape on Bishop, it is clear that while he is also listed as a safety, and often times plays at this position, he is more of an outside linebacker prospect due to his 6’3, 200 pound build. Bishop, shows that he can not only add more weight to his frame, but that he can move well laterally in coverage as well, which he will likely do as an outside linebacker prospect. With this, Bishop also shows that he is not afraid of contact, and is very physical, making him even more attractive as a linebacker prospect. Going into the next level, look for Utah to continue to build his physique, as he will likely be a key player for them in a few years.
