Unsigned Senior Spotlight: QBs

After an eventful Early Signing Period that saw many of the state’s top players in the state put pen to paper with their schools of choice. However, that was only the first signing period and there are plenty of available prospects from the 2021 class. We break down a few of the top quarterbacks here. <strong>Holland Stallings, 6’1 190, Providence</strong> Stallings has been on our radar for a while thanks to his impressive accuracy and ability to make difficult throws. He’s not a quarterback that just throws slants, screens and nine routes, he also throws accurately deep and between the numbers and has the arm strength to throw deep outs, even from the opposite hash. He’s improved his pocket movement over the last year and a half and he’s definitely a guy with the ability to play on Saturdays. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28564" first="Sully" last="McDermott"], 6’4 205, Marvin Ridge</strong> McDermott is one of my favorite quarterbacks in the state. He’s a prototypical, strong-armed pro-style quarterback, but he’s not a statue in the pocket. His footwork in the pocket is impressive and though he doesn’t scramble often, usually looking to pass when he escapes the pocket, he can beat a defense with his legs. McDermott’s arm strength isn’t a question and he makes good decisions. He has a few PWO offers but there are Division 1 schools that could benefit from a quarterback of his caliber. <strong>Landin Sledge, 6’ 190, Riverside</strong> Sledge was our top-ranked quarterback in the Raleigh-Durham area and is a true dual-threat quarterback. He displays great touch and can throw well on the run, when rolling left or right. After throwing for over 3300 yards as a junior, we’re excited to see what he can do this spring. He holds a few offers but is still on the market for teams looking for a smart and talented quarterback. <strong>Zaire Kenney, 5’11 190, West Mecklenburg</strong> Kenney is a talented quarterback that has put up great numbers over the last few years. He’s just slightly undersized and that may be why he hasn’t picked up more traction on the recruiting trail but he has one of the best arms in the state. He’s an accurate deep passer and moves well in the pocket. He’d be a solid pickup for any Division 2 team. <strong>Cade Cunningham, 6’4 190, Heritage</strong> Cunningham is one of the top quarterbacks in the Raleigh area; a tall, accurate passer, Cunningham understands the offense and delivers the ball with precision. He’s had an excellent offseason at a variety of camps, winning the MVP at one of the VTO regionals. Cunningham is available and would be a great addition for a Division 2 team.
