With the playoffs being put on pause for the next few weeks, let’s take this time to take a deeper look into some of the top games to watch. Detroit King (6-3) vs River Rouge (7-1) should be one of the best games to watch in this round. Both teams are stacked with talent that will play on a variety of collegiate levels and either team could make a run at the state title.
Detroit King Crusaders
[player_tooltip player_id="29540" first="Jaylen" last="Reed"] | DB | 2021 (Penn State commit)
Reed is one of the best players in the state and the top senior on this Detroit King roster. He has a great build for the safety position and is great against both the run and pass. He should become an early contributor at Penn State and develop into a very good starter.
[player_tooltip player_id="30316" first="Dante" last="Moore"] | QB | 2023
Moore dazzled us with his performance as a true freshman and has continued to impress throughout his sophomore year. He has good size for the position with natural arm talent and accuracy. He is not only the best quarterback prospect in Michigan, but he is one of the best prospects in the country.
[player_tooltip player_id="29560" first="Brandon" last="Honorable"] | OL | 2021 (Pittsburgh commit)
Honorable is the best offensive line prospect in this game. He is an elite athlete with the size and length that college coaches look for in offensive tackles. He should develop into a very good starter for Pittsburgh.
[player_tooltip player_id="29601" first="Rishad" last="Hence"] | DB | 2021 (Akron commit)
Hence is a relatively underrated recruit and he is a guy that can line up anywhere in the secondary. He is undersized for safety, but he is still great in run support and shows he can create turnovers. He should develop into a really good player for the Zips.
[player_tooltip player_id="30317" first="Johnathan" last="Slack"] | OL | 2023
Slack is one of the best offensive lineman in the state in the 2023 class. He moves pretty well for a player his size and displays good technique for a young player. He currently holds offers from programs such as Michigan State, Memphis, Arizona State, Ole Miss and Kentucky, but he should continue to see more and more over the next two years.
River Rouge Panthers
[player_tooltip player_id="29568" first="Armorion" last="Smith"] | DB | 2021 (Cincinnati commit)
Smith is the top senior prospect on this roster and one of the top defensive backs in the state. He has the ideal build of a college safety and has the versatility to line up all over the field. He should become a valuable playmaker for Cincinnati.
[player_tooltip player_id="29594" first="Mareyohn" last="Hrabowski"] | QB | 2021 (Western Michigan commit)
Hrabowski is one of the top 2021 quarterbacks in the state, but he doesn't seem to get talked about enough. He looks the part from a physical standpoint and he has the mobility and accuracy required to play quarterback in today's game. He could be in line to take over as the starter at Western Michigan in a couple years.
[player_tooltip player_id="29572" first="Pius" last="Odjugo"] | DL | 2021 (Central Michigan commit)
Odjugo might be one of the most relatively underrated players in the state. He is athletic for a player his size and he displays good get off and potential as a pass rusher. Central Michigan may be getting a steal.
[player_tooltip player_id="30139" first="Davonte" last="Miles"] | DL | 2022
Miles is a high potential prospect that is becoming one of the best 2022 player in the state. The former basketball player has great size and length that help him dominate offensive lines, but I think he will kick inside at the next level as he gets bigger. He holds offers from programs such ass Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Indiana and Kentucky.
[player_tooltip player_id="30320" first="Davon" last="Jackson"] | DB/LB | 2023
Jackson might have the highest ceiling of any player on this roster and he is only a sophomore. He is a great athlete with a really long frame that looks like it could handle much more weight than he currently carries right now. He holds offers from Arizona State, Kentucky and West Virginia right now, but he is a prospect that should be picking up many more over the next couple of years.
