Most Overlooked LB’s for 2021

The linebacker position requires players to be smart and play with physicality, which all of these LB’s have in common. The problem is that they aren’t receiving the attention they deserve and are flying under the radar. These linebackers could become difference makers at the college level and set the tone on any defense. Here are the most overlooked LB’s in the 2021 NC class: [player_tooltip player_id="28611" first="Austin" last="Burns"], LB, 6’2 and 210 lbs, Parkwood HS Burns is hard-hitting linebacker that plays with excellent gap discipline and instincts. He is very effective as a blitzing LB, but also can be relied on as a run defender. Austin has the skill to shed opposing blocks and then make the tackle on a consistent basis. This playmaker flies around the field and seems to always be around the ball. Doesn’t have any offers to this point. [player_tooltip player_id="28563" first="Gibson" last="Macrae"], LB, 5’11 and 225 lbs, Pinecrest HS Macrae is an all-around linebacker that literally does it all for his team. He has elite agility and lateral quickness which results in Gibson showcasing impressive footwork during games. This LB is quick to fill running lanes and takes perfect angles when tracking down the ball carrier. He has the unique ability to recognize routes in coverage and watch the QB’s eyes on passing plays. Currently has one offer so far. [player_tooltip player_id="28562" first="Liam" last="Barbee"], LB, 6’1 and 220 lbs, Charlotte Catholic HS Barbee is a patient linebacker that lets the play develop before he explodes through the gap. He’s so good at reading the play direction and adjusting his position in order to limit his opponent to only a few yards. This intelligent player is best at open field tackling and diagnosing screens almost immediately. Liam has the speed to stop outside runs and can be used in Zone Coverage in future defenses. Barbee has 6 offers already, including NC A&T. [player_tooltip player_id="28556" first="Joshua" last="Harrelson"], LB, 6’0 and 210 lbs, Hoke County HS Harrelson is a special teams ace that makes TD-saving tackles on kick and punt returns. He is very good at creating turnovers and stuffing running plays. Joshua always gives his full effort and is seen laying out for tackles throughout various games. Offensive lines have trouble reaching him in the second level because of his explosiveness. Has one offer at this point.
