Looking Ahead to 2021: Olathe Seniors

There is a great abundance of talented football players in Olathe, Kansas.  With six players in the top 93 in the class of 2022, it is safe to say that the Seniors will have a huge impact in the success of their team in the 2021 season. [player_tooltip player_id="35544" first="Anthony" last="Favrow"] RB 5’8 190 Olathe West [player_tooltip player_id="35544" first="Anthony" last="Favrow"] is the #1 ranked RB in the class of 2022 and the 5^th ranked player overall.  In 2020, he recorded his 2^nd straight 1,000-yard rushing season when he rushed for 1,168 yards on 158 carries and scored 12 TD.  He also caught 12 passes for 45 yards and 2 TD.  He displays very good vision and decision making as he is able to find the correct hole on inside zone runs while adjusting on the fly during a power run.  He shows very good burst as he hits the hoe hard and accelerates quickly into the secondary for a big gain. [player_tooltip player_id="35552" first="Austin" last="Berggren"] QB 6’3 205 Olathe East [player_tooltip player_id="35552" first="Austin" last="Berggren"] is the #1 ranked QB and the 13^th ranked player overall in the class of 2022.  He possesses good size with a lean build.  He sees the field well as he makes the correct read and displays very good accuracy on short, medium and deep routes as he throws receivers open.  He displays good mobility as he effectively uses his athletic ability and play speed to elude DL and LB on his way to pick up a first down showing good competitive toughness as he is not afraid to lower his shoulder into a LB or DB to gain a couple of extra yards. [player_tooltip player_id="35596" first="Trevor" last="Vinzant"] DL 6’0 200 Olathe West [player_tooltip player_id="35596" first="Trevor" last="Vinzant"] is the 11^th ranked DL in the class of 2022 and the 57^th ranked player overall.  In 2020, he made 48 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 2 sacks, an INT and a pass deflection.  He plays as a LDE and RDE where he lines up in a 5T as well as a 4i.  Shows excellent burst off the ball as he quickly uses his hands and play strength to bullrush the OT backwards into the QB and is quick enough to beat the OT with an inside move.  Uses his very good motor, range and athletic ability in pursuit of the QB and brings down the QB with force for the sack.  Against the run, he uses his play speed, hand use and quickness to shed reach and scoop blocks with ease while keeping his eyes on the ball carrier at all times as he brings down the RB for a TFL. [player_tooltip player_id="35604" first="Dane" last="Hutchins"] OL/TE/H-Back 6’0 211 Olathe West [player_tooltip player_id="35604" first="Dane" last="Hutchins"] is the 17^th ranked OL in the class of 2022 and the 65^th ranked player overall.  He plays mostly as a TE or H-Back where he is used as a blocker but will occasionally catch a pass as well.  In 2020, he caught 2 passes for 7 yards but scored a TD each time he caught a ball.  He is a very good run blocker as he quickly gets to the edge while using his pad level, hands and play strength to seal off the SAM LB.  He displays good skills in the passing game as he uses his football intelligence to process the defense and displays very good hands as he shows the ability to make a one-handed catch. [player_tooltip player_id="35631" first="Noah" last="Palmer"] QB/DB 5’11 170 Olathe North [player_tooltip player_id="35631" first="Noah" last="Palmer"] was very impressive in 2020, as he played QB for the 1^st time in his high school career while also playing well on defense.  He completed 37 of 62 passes for 768 yards and 10 TD while also rushing for 975 yards on 159 carries and 12 rushing TD.  On defense, he made 34 tackles with a TFL, 5 INT, 2 pass deflections and a fumble recovery.  On film, he displays good pocket presence as he feels the pressure coming from his blindside from DL and LB, keeps his eyes downfield and completes passes on short intermediate and deep routes with great accuracy and touch.  On defense, he is quick with his eyes as he reads the QB, uses his play speed to jump the route and uses his hands effectively to make the interception.  Against the run, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play, uses his range to play sideline to sideline and play speed in pursuit of the RB while using his leverage and play strength to bring down larger RB with ease.
