The Bridgeland Bears (10-0) are facing the Klein Collins Tigers on Thursday and Prep Redzone is giving you all access to this preview and game coming up! There are some seniors and juniors who have our attention and we are making sure that staff is their to cover all of your Texas 6A Playoffs needs! With the playoffs coming up the Bridgeland Bears have been riding the success of their perfect season and district championship. To cap off their season the Bears defeated the Cy-Fair Bobcats to be the only undefeated team in the Cypress area. The Bears have been impressive and these athletes have stood out the most. [player_tooltip player_id="60702" first="Conner" last="Weigman"] has been the leader of this squad and has been poised all season in the Air raid system. It is imperative for Weigman to have a blemish free game so that the Bears can pull off victory. The Bears coaching staff has done a good job of making sure Weigman is comfortable all game in the pocket with good zone blocking schemes. It will be fun to watch him improve on an already impressive season. Conner has been featured before and we will continue to watch his maturation on the scene this winter. Conner has an array of teammates that are very important pieces to the puzzle including Atrevion Hunter. The slot WR has been a jack of all trades and has been a fan favorite because of his giddy celebration. The speedster has proven that he can stretch the field with the other receivers so his good fortune may come to fruition on Thursday because of the play of his QB. What impresses me the most about Hunter is his way to get open in the slot with his speed and shiftiness. He has impressed in his senior season and it has been fun covering Atrevion this season. The coaches have fun gameplanning for him while the opponents have nightmares about covering the entire field of Bridgeland. Hunter Wallis and [player_tooltip player_id="60257" first="Dylan" last="Goffney"] are two receivers that dominate the outsides and are dynamic playmakers. They are no strangers to our watch list and know how to show and prove regardless of who’s on the other side. We also will be watching [player_tooltip player_id="60445" first="Bryce" last="McMorris"] and Gavan Kaspar who are an elite safety tandem who ballhawk for the Bears they will be tasked to fill the passing lanes and also stuff the running alleys. McMorris and Kaspar are both seniors who are awaiting to spark momentum into this run facing against Klein Collins’ Jonathan Lewis. With Bridgeland being a heavy favorite we are particularly watching the Tigers’ RB Jonathan Lewis known for his power and quickness who has ran for 15 touchdowns and over 1300 rushing yards. Lewis has been very impressive between the tackles and has home run potential anytime he steps on the field. Lewis is the heartbeat for this team and their most impressive player and leader. He must have a big game in order for the Tigers to upset the Bears. Collins has fought and had battles all year and the constant has been Lewis solely on offense. They have rotated quarterbacks and we are expecting [player_tooltip player_id="60224" first="Colby" last="Powers"] to start at QB. Colby will need to outperform his 108 passing yards per game if he wants to keep up with Weigman and the Bears. Simply handing the ball off to Lewis will not cut it especially facing this Bridgeland defense. It is important for Powers to understand how to attack the hashes on 3rd down when its a passing situation. I will be shocked to see Powers not show up for the occasion. For Klein Collins to be in this situation its been on this offense being able to put up points. We are more than excited for this matchup and its shaping up to be a great start to the 6A Division II playoffs. Which team’s state title hopes will shine bright after this one and which team will have to return equipment next Monday. Stay tuned on Prep Redzone for more!
