Here are five deserving members of the Class of 2021 looking for college offers.
FB, Gage Branson, 6’0”, 220, Peabody-Burns – Branson is a physical athlete who can play multiple positions. He led the Warriors in tackles with 69, 13 of which came for loss. He played fullback on offense and is more of a blocker than a rusher. He could play linebacker or defensive line bases on a team’s needs.
ATH, Tariq Logan, 6’0”, 164, Field-Kindley, Coffeyville – Logan can play both ways either at wideout or defensive back. He has really nice hands and break-away speed. Logan was a secondary target in the Golden Tornado offense. Kansas State University commitment Darrell Jones Darrell Jones 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Coffeyville | 2021 State KS was the primary target. Logan worked against Jones in practice every day and is a shut-down back on defense.
DE, Nate Criqui, 6’3”, 170, Eudora — Criqui has a nose for the football and enjoys hitting people. He is definitely better suited for the defensive side of the ball. He is quick and has a long frame. He could bulk up and play on the line, but he is fast enough to play linebacker. He led Eudora in tackles with 84 in the 2020 season.
DB, Zaire Adkins, 5’10”, 140, Wichita Northwest – On a team loaded with Division I talent it can be easy to be overlooked. Adkins played on the Class 5A State-Runner Up Northwest Grizzlies. He had three interceptions in 2020 and could be a solid special teams player. He could be a steal for an in-state JUCO program. He practiced against players as or more talented than those he played against on Fridays.
FB, Mcclain Weekley, 5’10”, 180, Santa Fe Trail – Weekley was not the fastest running back in Kansas in 2020, but he was one of the most physical. Weekley led the Chargers offense rushing for 1,194 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. The Santa Fe Trail senior is a north-south runner who can break tackles and bring the wood of defense.
