D.C.’s Best Available 2021 Prospects

The reality is, there aren’t a ton of prospects in Washington, D.C. to begin with, let alone the elite prospects who are still uncommitted. However, Washington, D.C. is known for having top-notch talent, despite its smaller numbers. D.C. consistently churns out multiple four-stars each year, making it a must-stop for college coaches. Without further ado, here are the top available 2021 prospects in Washington, D.C. <hr /> WR: [player_tooltip player_id="90290" first="Caleb" last="Coombs"], 5’11, 190, St. Johns [caption id="" align="alignright" width="445"]<img src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C1ggu2IUUAAqXoZ?format=jpg&name=large" alt="Image" width="445" height="334" /> [player_tooltip player_id="90290" first="Caleb" last="Coombs"][/caption] Far and away the most highly touted prospect on this list and he’s most certainly earned that. Coombs can effortlessly beat press coverage and will stack corners after doing so. You can’t help but be wowed by his top-end speed. He lives for the fade route in the redzone and will go up & get the football, despite only being 5’11. Coombs shows no issues catching in traffic and can adjust to poorly thrown balls and will make sliding catches look easy. He understands the importance of route tempo and will lull defenders to sleep before accelerating out of his cuts. DB: Anthony Martin, 6’1, 180, Ballou Martin played a bit of wide receiver and safety as a junior. I think his future at the next level is at free safety, based on his instincts, ball skills, and ability to read the quarterback. Martin is consistently over the top of wide receivers and is rarely run by. As a receiver, he’s magnificent after the catch and gashed defenses with consistently long touchdown receptions. Rarely was the first tackler able to bring him down in space, making him a nightmare for defensive backs to tackle. DT: [player_tooltip player_id="90340" first="Kenjuan" last="Manuel"], 6’2, 295, St. John’s Manuel shows a solid first step on film and consistently got movement on opposing team’s guards. All season long, he ate up single blocks and pressured offenses to double him in zone schemes. He explodes off the football with a low pad level and shows a tight, compact punch that gives offensive linemen serious issues. Tackles for loss were the norm for Manuel in 2019 as he’s proven to be an absolute menace as a run stopper.
