Commitment Report: Josh Buri to South Dakota State

All of us, as human beings, know exactly what setting goals are. Some have long-term goals, short-term goals, and then there are players like [player_tooltip player_id="18038" first="Josh" last="Buri"], who bet on himself, and it paid big dividends. Buri left Stewartville, Minnesota, with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove, as the impact of Minnesota canceling their fall football season brought him and his family to Brookings, South Dakota, to become a Brookings Bobcat. Buri was an outstanding running back prospect at Stewartville that had many Northern Sun offers. Still, Buri was looking for one Division I opportunity to achieve his biggest goal in his football life. He got it done when South Dakota State was the first to offer in what was first PWO spot, which shortly after turned into a scholarship offer. Prep Redzone Dakotas caught up with [player_tooltip player_id="18038" first="Josh" last="Buri"] to chat about his commitment to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits and what went into it after playing a high school football season already on their home turf at Dana Dykhouse Stadium. <strong>Q: What impacted your decision to sign with SDSU? We, of course, know that you always wanted to go D1 from your time in MN, but what sold you on SDSU as a program?</strong> <strong>Buri:</strong> Similar to when I arrived in Brookings, South Dakota State, much like the Brookings community, made me feel like family, and I feel  I already fit in well with the Jackrabbits being already right here in Brookings. With South Dakota State being a dominant Divison I program, it was a very easy decision. <strong>Q: Was there any other programs that were in the running, or when you got that SDSU offer, you knew it was the one?</strong> <strong>Buri: </strong>I knew right away when I got the SDSU opportunity and then a scholarship offer that it was "the one." <strong>Q: 3. What will be the biggest football adjustment you will need to make to adjust to the college game at running back?</strong> <strong>Buri: </strong>I need to work on my patience when I have the football, and I can work on my burst of speed to "find the endzone for the Jackrabbits," Buri said. <strong>Q: How did you use this season as fuel to get to the next level with your move from Stewie to Brookings? What changed you with that move?</strong> <strong>Buri: </strong>The move from Stewartville to Brookings was unexpected, and I knew I had to mature real quick football-wise. Moving really helped me grow my maturity because I was playing with a brand new set of guys at such a fast speed. To me, moving so fast and adjusting so well was an excellent warmup for college football. .<strong>Q: What’s the biggest thing you are looking forward to at the next level at SDSU?</strong> <strong>Buri: </strong>I am looking forward to putting together an undefeated Jackrabbits and winning an FCS title! <strong>Q: What do you plan on majoring in at SDSU, or are you undecided at the moment?</strong> <strong>Buri: </strong>I plan on majoring in nutrition at SDSU.
