Cartersville Purple Hurricanes vs Warner Robins Demons will represent the penultimate title game on Dec. 30th, at 3:30 pm at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta, GA.
Let’s start with the Five-Timers Club, there are 17 high schools that have won five or more state championships in Football. The winner of the upcoming class 5A state title game between the Purple Hurricanes and Demons will join that exclusive group.
Cartersville is 4-1 all-time in state finals. The Purple Hurricanes (Canes) won championships in 1991, 1999, then went back-to-back from 2015-16. In its most recent appearance, they fell to Blessed Trinity in 2018. The Canes continue to set the standard for high school football in Northwest GA. Meanwhile, The Demons have fallen in the 5A finals each of the past three seasons, chasing its first championship since 2004. The Demons also won it all three times under longtime head coach Robert Davis in 1976, ’81, and ’88. The Demons are considered to be a longtime Class 5A powerhouse. Both programs continue to have great success in recent years, It’s on filling this championship game will come down to teams from the two strongest regions (region 1 and region 7) in this classification. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
