Warner Robins at Blessed Trinity:
This gigantic matchup between two powerhouse teams will come down to one thing. Blessed Trinity’s rushing attack led by sophomore Justice Hayes against The Demons’ defense. The 2023 superstar is arguably the top running back in the state and rushed for 1,176 yards and 16 touchdowns in just 6 games. Haynes has rushed for 196 yards per game and has been a tackle-breaking machine the entire season.
The 10-1 Demons, led by sophomore defensive end Vic Burley, have one of the top defenses in the state. They’ve given up more than 20 points just once this season and have held three of their last four opponents to under 10 points. The Demons are a high-profile program in middle Georgia and always take pride in their toughness and winning tradition.
Cartersville at Ware County:
This major game in South Georgia will feature two of the top quarterbacks in the state. The 10-1 Cartersville Hurricanes from North Georgia are led by four-star Florida Gator commit Carlos Del Rio Carlos Del Rio 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Grayson | 2021 State GA , and the 10-1 Ware County Gators are led by 2022 dual-threat QB Thomas Castellanos Thomas Castellanos 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Ware County | 2022 State GA .
In 11 games this season, The Gator’s junior QB has thrown for 2,622 yards and 22 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for over 824 yards and 21 more touchdowns. He’s one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the county and will have his biggest test of the season going up against an always tough Hurricanes defense.
Cartersville upgraded at QB half-way through the season as they added former Grayson QB and future Florida Gator quarterback Carlos Del Rio Carlos Del Rio 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Grayson | 2021 State GA to the roster. Del Rio has four years of starting experience and will need his best game of the season if he wants to leave South Georgia with a win. The in-state Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have offered, and more are likely on the way.
Calhoun vs. Coffee:
Another battle between South Georgia and North Georgia, the powerhouse Calhoun Yellow Jackets take on the hard-nosed Coffee Trojans. The Jackets come into the game at 9-3 with good wins over Cedartown, Dalton, and Clarke Central. Their three loses have come against McCallie (TN), undefeated Blessed Trinity, and 10-1 Cartersville.
The Trojans are 9-2 with big wins over Bainbridge, Camden County, and Stars Mill. Their two losses have come against 10-1 Ware County and Houston County. The Trojans have been led by their defense all season, but the offense has now scored over 28 points in three of their last four games.
Eastside vs. Jones County:
A matchup between two Middle Georgia teams showcase two of the hottest teams in the entire classification. The 9-3 Jones County Greyhounds, led by their explosive offense, has won 9 straight games after losing their first three games of the season to Grayson, North Gwinnett, and Veterans. They’re playing better and better each week, and they are always a well-coached team with playoff experience.
The 10-2 Eastside have won their last six games with losses coming to Newton and Clarke Central. The Eagles have been outstanding on defense the last few weeks, giving up 7 points or less in each of the past six games.
