In forcing numerous turnovers and coming up with huge play after huge play – on both sides of the ball, the Seminoles (12-0) took home a 38-10 win over Kissimmee Osceola at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium.
QUICK START FOR THE SEMINOLES
On the first few drive of the game, the Seminoles showed that they had the talent to keep the pressure on Sergio Diaz gave the Seminoles a 3-0 lead at the 8:51 mark of the first quarter on a 26-yarder.
With the Kowboys moving in to score, the Seminoles came up with a huge play – when Chad Mascoe Chad Mascoe 6'0" | 220 lbs | QB Kissimmee Osceola | 2022 State FL ’s pass was intercepted by Johnny Harris, who brought it back 89 yards for a 9-0 lead at the 4:59 mark of the first quarter.
The Kowboys got on the board when Spencer Richards Spencer Richards K Kissimmee Osceola | 2022 FL booted a 28-yard field goal to cut the lead to 9-3 with 10:30 left in the first half.
Seminole answered back with a scoring drive of its own when quarterback Timmy McCain took off for 16 yards to extend the lead to 17-3 with 6:04 remaining in the first half.
Osceola needed to score – after falling behind by 14 – and they did when Mascoe found Izaiah Jean-Baptiste for 29 yards at the 4:15 mark of the first half.
McClain and fellow USF signee Jimmy Horn came right back to give the Seminoles at 24-10 advantage with :15 left when they hooked up from 29 yards out.
The Seminoles extended the lead to 31-10 with 4:09 left in the third quarter on a 64-yard run by Donta Whack.
The Seminoles closed out the when Andrew McClain ran it in from 4 yards out with 5:19 left.
DEFENSE PLAYS A HUGE PART
In addition to the outstanding offensive prospects this game had, there were also some game-changers on defense as well.
Osceola boasted Alvin Lee, Spencer Richards Spencer Richards K Kissimmee Osceola | 2022 FL , Anthony Famularo, Kaylan Walters, Jeremiah Wilson, Lamont Lee. John Walker and Nolin Eaddy.
Seminole also had impressive standouts as well. Players such as Kameron Moore Kameron Moore LB Sanford Seminole | 2022 FL , Zion Alce, Ja’cari Henderson Ja’cari Henderson 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Sanford Seminole | 2022 State FL , Delvin Ingram, Josh Lyles, Jamez Drummer, Marseille Taylor, Lucas Fonseca and Devell Moore Jr.
OFFENSIVE STARS ALSO SHINE
While the defensive standouts did their thing for the Seminoles and Kowboys, offensive stars also made a difference.
Mascoe finished 16 of 22 for 214 yards and a TD. He was sacked five time.
McClain was 9 of 15 for 169 yards and a TD.
Jean-Baptiste led all Kowboy receivers with five catches for 57 yards. Horn came up with six catches for 74 yards and a score.
Ja’randy Swint finished with 65 yards rushing for Osceola. Whack (80 yards) and Rory Thomas (69 yards) led the way for the Seminoles.
