Madison Prep suffered its first on-field loss of the season Nov. 5 against University Lab and has appeared on a mission in the two weeks since then.
The Chargers rebounded with a 39-15 defeat of Parkview Baptist, then closed the regular season with a 38-20 victory against West Feliciana.
Coaches have talked about the wake-up call the stumble against the Cubs provided and the focus they’ve seen from their players.
A slew of talented standouts put that on full display against the Saints.
Here are some of the top performers from both teams in that finale before turning the page to the playoffs this week.

[player_tooltip player_id="63566" first="Tyrell" last="Raby"] — 6-1, 175 DB — Madison Prep
West Feliciana fans heckled the Madison Prep star at halftime that he couldn’t play for longer-standing district power U-High. And a Cubs coach on hand as a spectator couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity. Raby showed once again his position as one of the top players in Louisiana and the reason even most colleges around the country would jump at the opportunity to sign him this winter. The recent Memphis decommitment hauled in a pass over his shoulder down the sideline for the Chargers’ first score en route to a five-catch, 80-yard evening, including another leaping sideline grab and an interception — even as much as the Saints tried to minimize his involvement, including kicking away from him on special teams.

Jacarre Cooper — 5-9, 160 ATH — Madison Prep
Another senior helped set the tone even before Raby’s early touchdown. West Feliciana avoided Raby and Royon Davis with the opening kickoff lifting a high, short kick to Cooper at the 35-yard line to open the game. But Cooper broke a pair of tackles and took off for about 20 yards into Saints territory, then showed his quickness at running back to help push the Chargers into the red zone and set up the Raby catch. He caught a pass in stride on Madison Prep’s next possession for a gain of about 50 and eventually capped the drive with a dive across the goal line for a 13-0 advantage.

Brian Chatman — 5-9, 170 ATH — Madison Prep
The Chargers’ coaches and players were excited to finally have Chatman’s eligibility waiver approved with three games remaining in the regular season. Madison Prep immediately found ways to get him involved as a runner and receiver in that contest against U-High and has continued to expand that role as the playoffs approach. Chatman’s quickness, athleticism and balance provide another dangerous, albeit undersized weapon that should have the potential to bring some electricity to a smaller college program.

[player_tooltip player_id="63732" first="Nylen" last="Jones"] — 6-2, 190 DB — Madison Prep
The Chargers’ senior feels like he’s been making plays for the program for forever after earning early playing time due in no small part to his physicality. He’s established himself as when of the Baton Rouge area’s hardest-hitting players and a disruptive playmaker in the box, as he showed on a few occasions again against West Feliciana, and continues to look more like a linebacker at the next level. We had him listed at 190 before the season, but he looks more likely up over 200 and potentially closer to 210.

2022 Recruiting Class
Zeon Chriss — 6-2, 200 QB — Madison Prep
The Chargers’ quarterback was the star of the night, completed 14 of his 19 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers and six runs for 118 yards and another long, winding score. Memphis was among the first colleges to pursue him, and several Power Five programs are continuing to monitor his development. Chriss appears to be one of Louisiana’s better 2022 quarterback prospects before the highly anticipated 2023 group.

Quency Wiggins — 6-6, 265 DL — Madison Prep
The junior has been the best-looking player on just about every football field he’s touched since arriving from a predominantly basketball background. Programs such as Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Indiana took early notice of his potential. But Wiggins has continued to understand the game and his role better throughout the season and make strides that showed against West Feliciana, including one late series in which he took over and beat his blockers three straight plays, including a sack and another hurry, to force a quick three-and-out.
Aeneaus Lemay — 5-10, 170 ATH — West Feliciana
As has been the case on many occasions this season, "Neno" was among among the bright spots for West Feliciana with his speed and vision as a running back or a receiver. He’s worked hard to establish himself among the team’s leaders under first-year coach Hudson Fuller and figures to be among the breakout players to watch in the Baton Rouge area as a senior.

Antonio Haile — RB— West Feliciana
The physical junior running back led the Saints with 77 yards and two touchdowns with his aggressive rushing style and showed his willingness to block in pass protection or on a couple plays on which he was called upon to help spring Lemay.

2023 Recruiting Class
Delvin Whitaker — 6-3, 245 LB — West Feliciana
The sophomore linebacker’s name rivaled Lemay’s and Haile’s among the Saints’ most commonly called throughout the contest. Whitaker played well against a big, physical Madison Prep offensive line in the box, quickly finding gaps and making sure, strong tackles in the backfield.

2024 Recruiting Class
Joel Rogers — 5-11, 165 ATH — West Feliciana
Add the young freshman to long list of players that has Fuller intrigued about the potential for the program’s near-future. Rogers relieved senior Bennett Clement at quarterback late, providing a different look and a couple glimpses at his athleticism. The Saints’ roster lists him as a safety, but his ultimate destination in regards to college position looks flexible. His continued development the next few years should be worth watching.
